I haven't had to try this yet, but I believe the user guide for P2Log Pro (as opposed to the standard version of P2Log) indicates that the app will recreate the last clip file, if necessary. There is a command for repairing clips, which you have to use. The app does not do this automatically when you just try to open the clips.

But you have detailed everything in en excellent step by step process. Wonderful!
. . . one more question. Do you know if this works the same on media composer, I'll sleep much better tonight knowing that you've heard of someone going through the same process you describe in media composer.
I selected the clip repair section, added the mxf, selected the framerate and it did its thing. The result is a new P2 build on the desktop with the lastclip text file. Then open the volume thru P2 and it should work. Its useful to know what framerate u shot at, I shot 50fps in Pal 720pn format so I selected 25p. Larger clips don't work as well thou. Anything under 2 gigs should be good.
You don't have to convert the files for the PC to edit them, only the Mac still requires conversion. With the PC you can get Raylight for Vegas or Premiere to allow importing MXFs, and the other programs handle them natively.ripupthehwy said:And then you have to convert it to .mov files for a Mac or .avi files for PC's ? In order to edit with in realtime? I thought Canopus Edius and Avid Xpress Pro would play the P2 files in realtime. no? Sorry I sound so stupid about this, haven't got this far with the HVX yet.
Thanks Ken. That was our intention. let me clear a couple things up...kenbostero said:Either way I can't recommend P2 log pro enough, it saved a hour of priceless footage.
