1080i 24pa footage to 3:4 & 19:9 SD DVD

Sorry for the fawlty post......
I recently shot and edited 1081i 24pa footage. What is the best process to convert to 3:4 & 16:9 MPG2 for SD DVD. In the case of the 3:4 version I would crop the left and right edges rather than have a letterbox look preserving the whole frame. Any suggestions and comments would be appreciated.

Also... Footage was shot with Firestore at Quicktime Native mode.
