Late-Breaking News About Final Cut Pro 5.1.4
Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 is a maintenance release that resolves the following issues.
FxPlug Plug-ins with Custom User Interface Elements
FxPlug plug-ins that have custom user interface elements now work as expected.
Importing XML Files
Importing XML files with missing <pathurl> elements now works as expected.

I think it's been out for about a week.

5.1.3 broke the FXPlugs for some apps, and dot 4 fixed it.

Automatic Duck for example and some parameters from FXFactory

Both 5.1.3 and 5.1.4 installed new DVCPRO HD components. All I can say is that footage that would not work in 5.1.2 did import properly in 5.1.3 and 5.1.4. I don't know what that means since I have heard reports that others still had some issues.

thanks Ned,

I was wondering if it had anything to do with the image caracteristics (luma & chroma)

Here is a direct quote to me personally from an Apple product manager:
"As you can see we prioritized the fix and have already released 5.1.4. We are also looking into all the P2 issues and it should improve over time as we work closely with Panasonic."

I recently installed the crossgrade onto my laptop and had the import problems with HD clips (invalid/unrecognised), I'd just upgraded to P2log pro as well so I wasn't sure what the problem was. I ran software update yesterday and installed .4 - hey presto, HD slo-mo clips all play fine and import fine.

I had no problems with P2 import in 5.1.2. I upgraded to 5.1.4 now I get glitches in the footage.... any ideas?

I am shooting 720/24pn but already have that unchecked. Before going to FCP 5.1.4 and QT 7.1.5 last week I never had a problem with or without it checked.

well it looks like the glitches (multicolored patterns for a frame or two in some of the clips) I am getting on import aren't software related at all. It seems to be from importing footage from my FW800 drive on my dual 2.7 G5.

I imported the same footage from my FW400 pocket drive with no problems and I used my FW800 drive on a friends G5 and my old G4 without any problems (same footage). And I just remembered my FW800 enclosure has USB on it. So I connected it to USB, did the same import and the footage is fine....
