A few questions - confusing myself

Ok heres the idea I have. I will be applying for a grant for equipment, and am interested in the HVX200, but I`m getting confused looking at all the different FAQS/reviews etc online, so i`ll ask here what I`m cusrious about and hope a pro can give me straight answers. What I want to film (first and then others similar) is a short film in 24 f, but the martial arts/fighting scenes in 22 fps.

1. Can it record HD to tape?
2. Can you mix the different framerates seemlessly? Or will it cause editing issues?
3. Do you HAVE to use P2 cards? At only 8 minutes per 8 gig card it seems extremely expensive...plus buying the deck etc.
4. Do any PC programs handle XMF files? I was told only Macs can handle them
5. Is it true the FS-100 can only do 24/60 fps? Or can it record 12/22 fps etc.

thanks

1. The camera tape mechanism only allows DV25 to tape.
2. Mix frame rates where? p2 card will record whatever frame rate you choose.
3. You can use FS-100, Cineporter when released, record to FCP and some PC NLEs, DV Rack HD 2, Scopebox on a Mac
4. Yes, Edius Broadcast for one. (leave the OS comments out, please)
5. You can do VFR in FS-100, although it is achieved in post.

Every one of these questions have been answered a hundred times over, so I'll just give you the briefest answer and if you want more details you can search.

1) not internally, but yes to an external DVCPRO-HD tape deck.
2) Yes no problem.
3) No there are many other options
4) All PC programs handle them (either natively or through RayLight), Macs have the least-integrated approach but are the most popular choice (figure that one out...)
5) Yes and no. It doesn't officially properly support variable frame rates but if you're using the Mac you can post-process the files to get the effect.

its a local artistic and media type thing where you apply with a plan, and then cross your fingers and hope you get it. I doubt I will since a filmmaker has never received it, but can`t get it if you don`t try right?

so whats a cineporter. I can`t seem to find anyone saying what it is or what it does, just lots of price questions etc from 2005.

*EDIT* i read it wrong...it says still in developement, something else said october...so the hard drive is what your referring to yes?

lol thanks for your patience, i guess its my work computer....still won`t work, i`ll definately check it out at home.

Is there a PC program that can convert video to 22 fps? Seems for now the HVX200 may be out of range for all the add-ons to buy

its a commonly used framerate for martial arts fight sequences that quickens the pace slightly so it doesn`t look altered still to the eye, but makes it appear slightly quicker in motion
