anyone has any news from Joel yet?? I know he makes excellent stuff at a very reasonable prices. However, it is passing close to March now :(
 
Yeah, I check his site every couple days, been holding off for his baseplate/rods and matte box.

Btw, on the site it says the matte box is two fixed stages??? I'm sure I saw somewhere that it was going to have one rotating. Anyone know?

Ya, his new one will have i believe atleast 2 rotating 4 x 4 filter holders. I emailed him not too long ago, im waiting as well.
 
i´m checking his site every couple days too - i hope he is up and well - and ready for takeoff soon :)

I have been aptiently waiting for him to come back, but am worried. Does anyone have suggestions for comparable matte boxes / rails / follow focus setups?

I would love to support him, the products look awesome, just not sure when he is coming back.
 
FSM, I feel your pain, that's my exact prediciment wanting to buy all those items. I need rails asap and was leaning toward the redrock ones but not sure if they're good or not. I really like the look of the hyson stuff so it's a bummer. As far as the matte box goes I think the hyson is miles ahead and will wait a bit longer for it.
 
Joel is expected to be back in communication later this month. He has been doing some very honorable work helping a community of people and finishing some work that his late father unfortunately was unable to complete. I am sure Joel will appreciate the interest that exists in his products. I can't really say much more, and I am confident Joel will soon be back to apprise us all of what has been happening.
 
Has anyone heard from Joel yet? I too am interested in his base plate and follow focus.

Joel just updated his site stating he is back from where he was and updating the state of hysonfilms.com!

welcome back Joel.
 
The baseplate and shoulder support are going to be keepers imo. The baseplate looks so nice, and light actually. looking to lighten the load a little.

I saved a video from his site from a while back, right click and save to see an animation of the concept rails. Not sure if this is final design or not, but i cant wait either way.
