Thanks Barry. I just thought that we might be ale to turn you to the dark side and reveal some Dirt... lol well not Dirt but maybe gold dust... And meybe you don't "know" what's going on in the development dept. but we know that you have a better idea than all of us as to what they might or might not consider doing so if you are allowed to speak freely about that sort o' think then please go ahead

It would most defenetly be a firmware fix though! the focus ring is a drive by chip not wire... it is just like a button, it is not mechanical (wish it were!) so the imput from it could be ignored when switching the "Focus Off" in a new menu option...

i think the best ideas were, REC Chec showing the whole clip, and making a user button the "delete last clip" option. This way you can keep it off the camera body if you wish, and youre worried d that you may hit it by accident.
I think the idea is more about making the user buttons assignable for a longer list of features already existing in the 200 and the "delete last clip" is a separate feature that we'd like added to the user buttons and apparently the most popular request (me too)...
I personally would love the LCD to have higher rez but for a firmware change that would affect all of us the idea is to tweak the Focus Assist.
those two would have a hughe impact and have to be in the top 5 of popular demand...
We should make a poll or five polls, or actually a vote such as the DVX fest spreadsheets used to be, where we vote five out of a list of say twenty popular requests... and make them all "possible" changes... that was we can get the DVXuser influence organized and forward it to Jan. Firmware holds so much power right now... it's like messing with the timing of an engine that was limited by silicone... the power is there, just gotta let it out, there was so much going on when they released it that now looking back its so much easier to tune it. Now is the time to do this.
I propose that Barry Jarred and friends get together and quickly write down a list of 20 firmware updates and throw them into an Excel spreadsheet for members to vote... five votes per member. Then a graph or two together with the actual numbers and perhaps voting user name list can be forwarded to Jan. When is NAB? Even if we don't get it to them with enough time before NAB... we are late for that, approval and so on then actual code writing and testing... but who says it has to be done by NAB... maybe they have some of it already started/done... and we could assure Pana execs that the development team is doing something worth the money, and maybe give them a bit more funds...

I do like the poll idea and maybe Panasonic can take the top few "easy adjustments" as a way to keep us HVX users happy longer. But I wouldn't expect too much.
Have a great weekend and put some of that energy into making yourself money to buy the next-gen Panisonic Camera. :beer:
well imagine the HD 16:9 viewing area was moved up to the top of the LCD/Viewfinder and the black "letterbox area" was double thick at the bottom, then a perpetual Focus assist could be on on the bottom of the LCD at all times. this way you can see the whole screen, and have the Focus assist checking various points of the image.
