Icelandic Blood Bank Commercial (DVX + The BREVIS)

Hey People

Just shot a spec commercial for the Icelandic bloodbank using the Brevis and a DVX100AE..

Offcourse you can't understand what the hell is being said but the basic concept is that we wanted to do something that connected the donations people give to the bank directly to where they go. The kid we are profiling has a blood disease whitch makes it impossible for him to create his own blood so he needs to get transfusions every 6-8 weeks...so this is basically him talking about himself and his views on his condition...

Shot over a couple of days...Not the most perfect example of the Brevis at work since I forgot to turn it on for the whole interview part of it! (it was on for all the other shots)..but I still don't think the grain was that bad considering...

40 seconds, 2.6mb (heeeavy compression)

music for airports is lovely stuff.

it bothers me that the white bursts happen outside your matte.
otherwise looks great.
really powerful imagery.
i like the mother sitting next to the child.
her presence really adds a lot. nice touch.

haha, I thought the white flashes might bother some people...I actually tried both ways, and I realize that the effect as it stands is technically "incorrect" ...I just think it looks better ;)

But thanks for the compliments!

Nice spec ad. Not sure about the grading choice. Colors are a bit "dreary" for a commercial. Should it be more "feel good"? Not sure myself. I like the flashes outside too - works. Also, are those dust spots on the Brevis in the first shot? Curious, cuz I have that prob a lot w/ my Letus. Nice job! p.s. I'm dieing to visit Reykjavík!

I like how your commercial looks. The colors are nice and fit well. I dont know what the little boy is saying though, but i am sure it also fits. Nice job. What is your avatar from?

Looks pretty good, I'm probably the only one here that understands whats being said.

Note to myself: give blood
