Anyone get their free P2 card yet?

Hi Ted,

Since you didn't give me enough time to check and see what happened with you last message, I am now going to have to post my reply here. We did send out the book, UPS says they did indeed deliver it. Where it is I won't know until they do a final trace on it which will take a week. I am sending out another book now.
Thanks,
Jan

Just when I unload with my first "negative Panasonic" post, Jan comes to the rescue.
Sorry Jan, when I had to re-send you all the info again I vented here instead of waiting for your reply.
I should have known better. :embarasse
I'll shut up now and wait till you hear from UPS.

Thanks so very much for your help with this matter. I owe you a hug and/or a beer at NAB.

well,

i'm also beginning to get frustrated. here is my story:

originally filled out online order form on Dec 15th, processed on the 22nd. i was never told to send an invoice or contacted. by the time i figured it out (via forums) it was january 15th. i promptly faxed the invoice and waited two weeks to follow up with an email. Veronica said "unfortunately" they did not recieve the fax but she did say they had my original claim number. i again refaxed the invoice yesterday and i've no way to know if they indeed intend to process it or even when. i'm afraid to mail in my original invoice since people have said ABC has 'lost" them. it has been two months today and at best i can hope that they are inclined to process the fax in the next few weeks and then send it out in six more. this is beyond acceptable.

Jan, if you can help me here is my information:

Name: Alice Buczek
Claim#: 15755

i don't know what they are doing at ABC as i just get the runaround.

regards,

Alice and Greg Buczek

Received the camera December 8th.....so it took 2 months and 5 days

Hey livelikeriley - you really want to post personal information like this for the world to see? You aren't a native New Yorker, are you? You might be wise to take your address out of the message, and send a PM...

Just got mine today. They must of sent out a bunch on Friday. Took 6 weeks from submitting the request.

The problem with this post is that there is no information as to who you are, so I am at a loss as to how to help. If you will post your name and address I will forward to the folks at ACB. They do have the database and they should be able to look it up.

Thanks,

Jan

Sorry 'bout that. PM sent with all the info you'll need. Thanks in advance for your help.

I thought about that before posting it, but I mean is someone going to stalk me? Send me takeout I don't want...? What?

Well, my ingrained NY instincts read that message as: "at this address, you're likely to find at least a $6,000 video camera, and probably plenty of other valuable stuff. Come by when I'm not home and "borrow" it!"

The takeout, well... sometimes it's good!

And I know a fellow DVXUser would never do this, but also, "And hey! You might want to keep an eye out near my mailbox for a P2-sized package."

I guess it's not LA... here, I'd worry the doorman was a desperate filmmaker dreaming of P2 cards falling out of heaven...

Here is an update.

I'm not sure whether it's a result of my voicemail, Jan's intervention, or both, but I got a very apologetic call this morning from Michelle Henry, who is the supervisor for the HVX rebate program. Here is her detailed explanation for the problem.

Initially, they received over 500 rebate requests. Each had to be individually input and verified, and apparently Panasonic took a long time to get them the process for verifying serial numbers. Then, once they received the info to verify the serial numbers, they were considerably backlogged (they must be understaffed; it doesn't take that long to input and verify 500 transactions.)

Then, once all of the initial 500+ rebates were ready to go, Panasonic would only send a small amount of cards each week, apparently due to the high value of the cards and concern for possible internal theft or something. So this created a further backlog.

Michelle says they are now close to caught up, but the confusing part is that they are, in fact, changing the quoted delivery time on the rebate to 8 to 12 weeks. So if there's no backlog and the process for verifying serial numbers is now in place, the only possible explanation for the delay at this point is that Panasonic cannot or will not provide enough P2 cards to ACB on a consistent basis to handle the volume of rebate requests they are receiving.

In any case, I brought to her attention the fact that multiple people here have been told only after calling that their invoices have not been received, and she is going to look into why they are not receiving them. (I had to fax an ]invoice copy to them, as she looked everywhere and could not find the one we mailed in early January.) It also sounds like Weslie, the person who hung up on me, will get some "coaching."

Michelle offered that if anyone else is getting the runaround or is not getting a timely response, they can either email her directoy (mhenry at acbcoop dot com) or they can call the regular rebate number, press 0 for the operator, and ask for her (Michelle Henry.)

I am pleased to be able to say that, from the current appearances, it seems that I was wrong about ACB; they do seem to be genuine in their desire to make this program work, but it's been a buggy process for which she says both ACB and Panasonic must share the blame, and she said it does sound as though the department handling these calls needs additional training to correctly tell people the status of their order.

Thanks also to Jan for quickly responding to my PM, and for her help in resolving my situation.

- Chip

Got my P2 card and book yesterday, almost 8 weeks to the day since registering. I did not have to provide an invoice.

At the 5 weeks point, based on discussion here, I e-mailed and received a quick response from Veronica that my rebate was in order, but they were back ordered. After hearing (here) that they were shipping again, I emailed Veronica on Friday last, and received a very nice response on Monday that included a tracking number. I think they were just overwhelmed. It's nice to have the card, but it did not influence my purchase decision.

As to the sordid tale of my HVX purchase, I shall save that for another time.

cheers,

Hi,

This may be your understanding of what they said, but the serial number verification is an excel spreadsheet and is the number is on there or not, this is not complicated. The complicated part of it was in the Audit. This is where we had to request the Invoice. This was time consuming.

We have processed at this point over 1100 claims, with another 500 pending as of today. And yes it does take time to verify claims because not all claims are complete when initially sent in, or numbers are transposed. As an example there are three claims that are matching with three other claims with the same serial number. Why is that? In general there is a rational reson, but it all as to be hunted down. This is part of the process, you have to investigate each of these. Then there are the incomplete serial numbers, the PO Box only addresses, or the missing zip codes. It is a detail oriented job and to say it should take a lot of time, is simply not true. Maybe if everything was perfect it might be, but a good 20-30% have missing information or misinformation. And this does not address the time required to be spent with the customer that has purchased gray market product, and feels that he should get a card anyhow.

Anyhow these will all work through the system. Everyone that qualifies will get their P2 card.

Hope this helps,

Jan

Jan, THANK YOU!
I got my Rebate Book today. One day after "whining" about not getting it.
Looks like UPS "might" have been the culprit now.

I gotta say, Jan can gitter done...when you give her a chance. Great customer service...again!
All is well in Ted's world.
