how many hours can it go?

okay
i am looking at buying a used dvx100 to shoot a documentary in sweden. i can't afford a new one, sorry, poor grad student. anyway it has 533 hours on it... is that too close to being worthless to buy?
how many hours can these babies get out of them before they need an overhaul? how much am I looking to spend to get it overhauled?

it can last for way longer then that. I just recomend u get the heads cleaned. Other then that ur good to go.
 
A friend of mine has bought and gone though at least 500 tapes for his DVX-100B, works just like the day he bought it. But as said before, make sure you get it PROFESSIONALLY cleaned, dust sometimes sneaks in evn if you've never opened it before.

I wish I could see that. Unfortunately I've been having a lot of problems with my dvx (mainly a dirty heads problem, but I fear there may be more to it :( ) at only 70 hours.
