Anyone get their free P2 card yet?

Ah there's nothing like screaming and shouting and complaining when you are getting something for free, but not getting it soon enough.
It kind of reminds me of that thread about those clients that dont want to pay anything, or next to nothing for your services but they expect you to give them the world.

Normally, I would agree with you.

But the rebate procedure is not the picture of quality control.

People basically need the cards to use the cam and for many it was the inducing factor in buying now.

Three and a half months to four months is reason enough to get pretty steamed for just about anyone.

There is no reason this can't be accomplished in 4 weeks start to finish.

As to the analog to client, you have to be kidding.

You can call it a free card or a rebate, but any way you look at it, it was PART OF THE PURCHASE PRICE, and an inducement for Panasonic to sell the camera.

I have to disagree with you on that analogy.

In response to USLatinContent, I'm probably just a number in their system in a long line waiting for my rebate...because for her to say "4-6 weeks" makes me feel like either they are out, or she read on a computer "This person is now fully authorized, start the 4-6 week countdown NOW" not when I originally submitted the rebate form. And I know complaining doesn't do much for my situation, but perhaps someone from panasonic may look at it and say "wow...we have a customer service problem...we need to fix it." And yes, this is a "free" offer if you want to call it, but it's also necessity for the HD acquisition of this camera, and extremely expensive. Now if they said the rebate was a free extra battery, then I wouldn't be complaining as much...because the camera already comes with a battery and wouldn't have as much of an effect. These are the reasons for the complaints. It just sucks when you play by the rules they set forth and it just slaps you back in the face...doesn't feel real good...

If you do your research you will see that the P2 card is not a "necessity" for HD acquisition with this camera. Further more if you do need the P2 card today for a job, then there are a number of rental houses in So Cal that you can call and get a card for about $30 a day.
I know that's not what you want to hear but go ahead and blame FOX for the lack of P2 cards in the rebate center as they have just given Panasonic multi millions of dollars for the purchase of a lot of P2 related equipment, including cards. So they're probably a little higher up the food chain right now than someone waiting in line to get a free card.:Drogar-Smoke(DBG):

Update

Update

Ok, for anyone who mailed in their invoice to Panasonic Rebate Center, I suggest you contact them and make sure they RECEIVED the invoice. As I posted earlier, they said they hadn't received my invoice (This was after a full MONTH of no contact from them after submitting the online rebate form and invoice in the mail.) I had to contact them to confirm "hey is everything ok?" for them to come back and say..."umm....no, we don't have your invoice...fax it." So now I got this message back from the rebate center:

As it states on the confirmation page on the website, it takes 4 to 6 weeks
from receipt of the invoice. We received your invoice on January 31, 2007.

Let's see...I MAILED my invoice on the 19th of december, my Rebate status STATUS as it states online said and still says "Fulfillment in process" since 12/22/2006. Date requested is 12/19/2006 and Process date is 12/22/2006. Now I'm sorry, but this is EXTREMELY miss leading. Fulfillment in process to me means they have all the necessary items from me, and are fullfilling the request for the rebate, not sitting on their ass's doing nothing. But I guess I was wrong. So for a WHOLE month, I'm not told, warned, notified, nothing of the fact "Hey, we don't have your invoice, fax it to us". You have to bug them and ask "hey, do you have everything? Is my rebate going through?" And like I said previiously, just as a I thought, I'm just a number in the system, she put me as receiving my invoice on Jan. 31, 2007, and now my countdown to shipment starts.

Needless to say I am very dissapointed panasonic. The system you have employed in receiving this P2 card and Book has been nothing but frustration, and it really doesn't seem to have to be that hard. So far all of you waiting for your P2 card, contact the rebate center and VERIFY through e-mail or phone ( I can never get through to the phone, left messages, and nothing gets returned ever) to make sure they have your invoice and you are in line to have your rebate shipped to you.

Email I received today:

The invoice is a requirement as it does state that on the confirmation page as well as a letter was mailed out. If you can fax over your invoice we can put into the process.

Thanks,
Veronica

My reply:

Thanks for included said fax number...

I'd love to spend more time doing detective work finding a fax number, just as I've come to find out that 'fulfillment in process' mean absolutely nothing is happening. I never received a letter regarding my invoice. And apparently I'm not the only one who missed that request on the confirmation page.

(866)339-4296 is the only number I was able to find. I assume your fax number is also your work phone line?

This is retarded.

that is ridiculous!!!
I called them and e-mailed them asking if they got my invoice but they haven't othered trying to call back

It does seem that the entire program is horribly mismanaged. I suspect that the slowly changing rules without notice to the buyer is an attempt to cover the fact that they were not setup up to begin with to deal with the volume of purchases and rebate requests.

No the changing of the rules has to do with Sarbanes Oxley, and the fact that a program that has a $1200 component could wrought with fraud. Almost from the day it was launched, which happened during a time frame when I was in the process of losing my husband to cancer, it became the subject of an internal audit.

I apologize for your inconvenience but it is an audited program and I think I will have them change the website to read a longer persiod of time. The response has been overwhelming and you will get your cards, and as one of the cooler heads in this thread suggested, if you need the cards today, you can either rent or you can record directly to your computer.

Again, it will all come through. For those of you that are waiting call back, keep in mind that sometimes a. your message sounded like the wrong number and they have tried to call that one back a number of times. b. You left your number with a cell phone and it was totally indecipherable. or c. they get close to 300 calls a day as there is more than one promotion going on and they just have not gotten to yours yet. If iny of the above are a possiblity, I would suggest calling them back. I know there have been phone calls I have not been able to return for reasons of a and b.

Anyhow, I hope this helps you understand more about what has to happen in order to ship your card.

Best,

Jan

I got an email saying mine would be shipped in the next few days. If I get it next week than it will be 6 weeks from when I submitted the request and sent my invoice.

Waiting !

Waiting !

I searched today to see if others were in my same boat. Ordered the card on 12/12/06 PANA Website says "Fullfillment in process". I tried calling brand manager JAN CRITTENDEN in NJ. Her mailbox is full. No one else will help. Now next week, I have a 7day gig shooting of all things 1080 /24. SO I'll be getting only 8 min per card ! I have two 8's already with my first HVX. This third one came free with my 2nd hvx and is REALLY NEEDED ! I may have to beg / borrow/rent once again. It will be the third time since DEC.

I love the cam, love the P2, but I'm getting a bit impatient with the lack of INFO. from PANASONIC.

whew...feel better now.

I'll let you all know what happens . SO far: 8 WEEKS and counting.

Steve

Jan says they had to implement an audit process and that accounts for the delay.

I still do not like the whole rebate process.

It causes issues, apparently, for both rebater and rebatee.

I just read page 9 of this thread and wish I did before I posted. I would have realized that others have already hunted her down. I would have found out that Mrs Crittenden is completely overwhelmed.

Sorry to hear Jan is going through dealing with Sarbanes Oxley AND cancer.

I don't know which is worse. I've dealt with both recently as well.

I had to shoot a 5 day meeting in NYC a couple years back with 3000 lawyers that were getting educated on The Sarbanes Oxley rules. Talk about a shoot from hell !

Elliot Spitzer was the Highlight. Yawwwn

Please hear us Mrs. Crittenden: We just want to know when. :)

Jan Crittenden is not responsible for the fullment side of the rebate. You have to contact the rebate center which is being run by a third party. You can find their contact info on the Panasonic webpage.

I sent them a note yesterday and they responded back they same day with my status.

I submitted on 1/25 and so I'm certainly not expecting my card in the mail any time soon, but what really bothers me is that I sent in my invoice the very next day 1/26. After reading this thread I decided to contact them to make sure they received my invoice...I was told that they would not even know if they had received it for another week or week and a half. That means it takes them just three weeks to receive the invoice? She then added that once they verify they have even received the invoice then and only then will the 4-6 weeks waiting time begin. I am not of that group that thinks, oh this is acceptable, it is free after all - this is an integral reason for purchasing this camera for me [and for others as well] the very fact that Panasonic outsourced the rebate fulfillment to an awful company is insane [but at least they have a toll free number, and at least the person on the other line doesn't have an indecipherable accent]. Meh, I'm ranting as most of you are...sheesh...4-6 weeks I'm fine with waiting, not 8-12.

Mark.

I just got an e-mail from Veronica saying that she didn't get my ORIGINAL invoice and to fax it to her. I hadn't heard of the "loosing mail" excuse when I dropped it in the mail... so even though this might have hurt me more than helped I e-mailed back the following:

Listen Veronica,
I sent you my original invoice as you told me to do in an e-mail. You also said that it would be sent back to me when you didn't need it any more. Now I don't have anything to send to you! What on earth would be the reason why you can't find the mail that we are sending to you? And if you knew you where having problems (as many people recently pointed out) then why did you have me send you such an important piece of documentation to you!? I am not disappointed anymore, but instead angered by your company's inability to deliver what made me and hundreds if not thousands or other people purchase the camera in the first place. I bought my camera from one of the companies listed on your company's website, VTP, so I see no reason whatsoever to ask me for my Invoice unless you are simply trying to delay the shipment of my card because of the manufacturing department's inability to supply for a demand that other departments didn't have the foresight to prepare for! When I purchased my camera I was told that I would have my card and the book within 4-6 weeks, AND I was never told to send the Invoice. In fact, the status of my shipment was misrepresented by the understaffed department that you seem to be the sole member of. I rightfully place all of the responsibility to produce my Invoice on you, unless a procedure put in place by someone else in the company is to blame for loosing Federal Mail, but it still falls within the company. If you don't have enough cards tell me right now, but stop pushing us under the rug as if we didn't matter when it was us that spread the word initially, making P2 the buzz word in the industry. I want my original invoice back! And I want to know WHEN I will get my card! Do not give me the run around anymore!
Please understand that I do not mean to insult you, but it is hard to remain calm under these circumstances. We are missing $1230 and we need it now yesterday!

Roberto Lequeux

I also asked the Accounts Receivable department at VTP to fax me and Veronica a copy. They didn't stutter.

FYI, the fax number is: 901-345-8812

my rebate was processed on 12/22 and I just called today to check the status of my rebate. The lady on the phone informed me that my card will be shipping today or monday, and that a lot of cards were shipping today/monday as well.

Hope we get our cards very soon.

I don't even care anymore... I have't been waiting as much as others here, but I certainly had it with the whole "should have been psychic and sent the invoice"...

I have been taken advantage of before, and since that my tolerance for people giving me the run around is very low...

Just a note: The rebate status page is very misleading. It says "Checks are usually mailed within 4-6 weeks of the process date" To me that means they HAVE the invoice and are PROCESSING the request. My status has been "Fulfillment in process" since my PROCESS DATE of 12/22/06. I think anyone who is getting screwed by this messed up system with the invoices should either have their P2 cards shipped immediately upon receipt of the invoice, or have a check for $1200 (as panasonic has it labeled on their website for the rebate) mailed out immediately. And just like USLatin has stated, this is a big deal! $1200 is MISSING from people who jumped on this rebate. We have been waiting patiently for 4-6 weeks, we did all that is necessary, it's time to pay up.
