New member... new movie... please have a look!

Jon, thanks for that! I did take a lot of your advice (and the advice of the others who chimed in) to heart. I think it shows in the new edit. Thanks again.

I'm torn about the X-ray... it seemed a little too over the top and just didn't quite fit the rest of the clip. I also have some footage shot of the doctor telling the patient (in various comical ways) that he's going to die.

I'll edit that together into a short clip and see if you think it should be added.

Thanks again,

Mike

Sure, well you may be right about it being over the top for the whole film. I enjoyed that part, but you might be right. Too bad the whole film wasn't as silly as the glowing tumor.

Yes... but then it would be very different entirely. Sort of like Monty Phyton or Benny Hill. :)

Some people didn't like the glowing tumour so much.
Some people like it over the top, some people like dark comedy, some slapstick...

I'm happy with it now regardless of what category it falls under.

I'll get those "joke" clips together later and you can tell me if you think they fit in.

Thanks again, I really appreciate the improvements that you have helped me create for this little clip.

The movie is much improved with the music in. You're just going to have to learn how to really USE the music so that it accents certain scenes instead of being the same all the way through.

I liked your improved edits, but you're going to have to work on timing a little more on your future edits and projects, just to get that punchy feeling that is required for a dark comedy. I find that dark comedy works best when the actors play it absoultely straight. it's the situation itself that is funny, not what they're doing, but it's a finely detailed balancing act.

Cutting to the patient hearing the doctor yell "Holy Sh**! is a fine example of this. We needed more moments of that kind of stuff, and lessof the doctor on the phone.

Good work on the edit and good luck on the next one. Take all of these considerations when you shoot you next one and it will be 10 times better from the script onwards.

I appreciate that. I thought I did use the music well though. The timing of the final strong point of the music with the news that he now has to see the patient was done on purpose. Overall, I just wanted some light background music though.

The funny thing is, I've played this for a LOT of people and most of them find the phone call conversations hilarious. Different strokes I guess.

Bottom Line: This would NOT have turned out as well as it did without you guys!! I really value all of your opinions and I'll definitely be "thinking" more during my next shoot.

10x better... I'll see what I can do.

Hehe, some funny stuff there. Felt like some of those bits could have been funnier. I liked the second one, "Good news is, you won't have to come to this hospital tomorow"

I also liked the last one, but felt like he should have said something like

"How long do I have?"
"What time do you have?"
"8:20"
"You have about...5 minutes..."
*plops to the floor dead*
"Err... I meant seconds..."

Thanks Jon!

We had a lot of fun filming this... maybe too much. ;)
