What the heck? Is that camera hacked? Is that really a side vf? How the heck?

Color me confused!

the funny part is that the viewfinder works and peaking doesn't even show up.
I know the viewfinder I have on has 600 CRT lines of rez and I calibrated the brightness and contrast to the color bar switch on the camera

BNC out to line in with 12volt running - VF is nice and sharp

i now know what to say: congratulations, you have sucsesfully made a wonderful cam look like absolute unprofessional ****. :) lol Is there some cool feature im missing about this?

I hope that was all spare parts from previous DIY's because it looks like with everything you have there you might've just bought a Marshall monitor for the on-cam viewing.

it was pretty cheap, the viewfinder was 50 bucks and battery was 25,

I had lots of cables and time plus the pin-outs so I took a stab at it.
Fun project to do and besides -
before the advent of 16mm sync sound - filmmakers modified the aurico camera -

al I need now is some black poly shrink wrap, and it will all look seemless

the one on the canon viewfinder was the rubber piece off an older jvc. I just took it off and slipped it on - works very nice when it is sunny out doors - a ligjt trap

more pics soon

Side note... What shoulder mount / rail kit are you using? Good luck with it? Is the 'aftermarket' duct tape needed? : )

custom designs do exist, it might make the camera look bad but overall perfomance is increased for the user.

BBC took a high speed crash test camera and modified it for the BBC Planet Earth Series to capture the great white shark eating a seal. Best slom motion ever!! The camera shot so many shots at once and it would be ready hours later for use. But very much well worth it!

thanks, your tip inspired me to salvage the eyecup off of an old defunct Sony shoulder beast in the attic -- much more comfortable than that native hard rubber reamer...

there is really no violation done to the A1 since the viewfinder is completly independent from the camera, so my A1 is A-OK
