Junipero: The Last Son of Celestie

Ah, that explains why I liked the DOF and bokeh on Chapter Two. Zooming in and opening the iris with the camera alone always produces a better looking bokeh and a more pleasing DOF to my eye than any adapter, even if it is too deep for some shots.

But I'm not here to discuss the use of adapters. The grabs from Chapter One looks awesome. It looks like you are not overusing the adapter anyway. Was the M2 used on all shots on Chapter One?
Now that I have seen Chapter Two I'm looking forward to see the first chapter. I just want more of this! :D

Yes, the M2 was used in every single shot. It's not very easy to take off and on so I usually just leave it on. Many of the shots were used with a wide angle lens with an infinite DOF like desert shot and the lake shot.

what were your shutter speed settings for the first section out in the woods?

I don't understand what I'm downloading. Is it XL2 footage or A1 footage?

It's called junipero_web.mov and it's parked on that site but it says Chapter Two at the top of the page and you've said that Chapter Two was shot with an XL2.

The screenshots on this thread is from Chapter One (It's a prequel) and is currently in production with an XH-A1/35mm Adapter. "junipero_web.mov" is Chapter Two and was shot with an XL2. It was completed roughly 3 months ago.

Oh okay, great...any idea when we can see footage from these A1 grabs? Sorry, I'm greedy. :D

I don't really have enough footage to cut something cohesive. The screenshots were from the first day of shooting, we shoot again next week though, maybe I can show something then.

hey marlon is it alot of work and time consuming using the m2 and are you 100% satified with the m2?

The M2 definitely has its drawbacks (requires more light when shooting indoors, constant changing of lenses, makes handheld work a pain in the ass, upside down image, etc...) but overall, the picture quality it produces makes it worth every penny. If you love the art of cinematography and the look of film, its a must have!

hey are you doing all the speacial effects on your work cause if you are i'd love to have you work on some of my material.if you could give me a price range of what you'd charge a low to no no budget filmaker like myself i'd appreciate that.also i have the canon a1 myself but have owned the letus35 fe a couple of months ago on my dvx and loved that combo,so could you tell me how you think the letus would stand up against the m2 and did you conside the letus at all.thanks

where can I buy an m2? and how much are they? I was leaning towards the HVX but after seeing those stills, I may be going for the canon again. This looks awesome! Looking forward to seeing the actual footage.

Yes I do all the effects myself. Unfortunately, I have a deadline to complete this movie as I'm doing it as a project for school so I don't have much time to do effects on another movie at this moment. I have never used the Letus so I can't give you a comparison with the M2 but I'm sure the differences aren't drastic. Remember, the 35mm adapter is just a tool, like a paintbrush, you're the artist and its up to you to paint awesomeness! I'm sure you can achieve what you are going for with both M2 and Letus.

Meanwhile, since we are in the subject of effects... heres a cool before & after shot. NOTE: Effects are still a work in progress.

do you have any pics of your rig and how you have it setup? which package are you using?

I can take a few pictures of it when I get home from school. I bought the SD bundle thinking that it was going to be used for my XL2 but it seems to work fine with the A1.

That looks amazing. Easily some of the best adapter footage I've ever seen, and great fx too.

Thanks for sharing. :)
