Hello folks, I finally shot some footage for my short film Junipero: The Last Son of Celestie. It is a prequel of my previous short film "Junipero" which can be seen here: http://www.citizencine.com/junipero/

Will upload some footage here soon, meanwhile... here are some screenshots.

Oh man I'm speechless...

Seriously wonderful looking grabs! I noticed that you have a very shallow depth of field on that last grab, so did you use some kind of a 35mm adapter or is the Canon stock lens really that awesome. I also dig the green forest look that you have on those first grabs. You images look very filmic and I think you reduced the sharpness in camera, am I right?

Good job!

Thanks for the kind words. Although the Canon stock lens is great and you can achieve pretty good DOF, the only way you can get the DOF like mine is with a 35mm adapter. I use a Redrock M2. As for the sharpness, the 35mm adapter does the reduction job too thanks to the extra glass.

Very nice. The shots seem to evoke LadyHawke or Excalibur.

Technical note: I'd love to see more M2 grabs. Almost everything I've seen from the adapter had fairly obvious vignetting, but this looks better to me.

Thanks for sharing. :)

The adapter has to be caliberated correctly. If it is properly set up, the adapter is amazing, even with wide angle lenses.

Great Grabs!!!!

A+++++++++

Photoshoped or CCd!??!

Gasp! Of course no Photoshop. All natural lighting. Color Corrected on Final Cut Pro 5.

very powerful man, strong sense of light and very powerful compositions,
what stock lenses did you use, did you use wides and what was the widest -any grabs.....
thanks for sharing your dreams :)

was it all shot with the A1
how long did it take !!! tell us more !!! the GFX !!!

I'm downloading Chapter Two right now and it's taking quite a while even at such a low resolution, but I am looking forward to what I am about to see. The grabs from Chapter One are all excellent by the way! I just watched the BTS footage on the website and I am impressed. A good matte painting makes all the difference.

EDIT: Wow.. I just watched the whole movie and I am speechless. Really beautiful cinematography, imagery and special effects. The sound design was also top notch. The story was well told. Again.. just.. wow. I agree that the intro is a rippoff of LOTR but it didn't bother me either becuase it was well done. The guy did a very good job I think, but the female playing "death" was less believeable to me.

Now for the questions:
Did you use the M2 on Chapter Two as well? What lenses did you use? Did you use the M2 on all shots? The DOF was quite perfect, not too shallow and muddy like anything else we see around here that is shot with an adapter. It looked the way it should to me.
And how did you fly over the forest in the beginning? Helicopter? Where was that shot?

all of it looks amazing buddy. Great stuff

my only beef: looks like its going to take the better part of an hour to watch it :(

EDIT

watching it now, wow man, that is some nice cinematography!

The map thing is 100% rippoff of LOTR, but thats okay, you ddi it well.

Your female actress blows, to be completely blunt, the guys is believeable.

I use Nikon Lenses, 24mm, 50mm, and 105mm. Yes it was all shot with the A1 on a 5 hour shoot.

Chapter Two was shot with an XL2, no 35mm adapter. The flyovers were purchased stock footage aerials. Color correcting them to match the rest of the movie was not fun. :)
