My DramaFest Entry - ERICA

Two thumbs up for my crew. :)
Just bears repeating!!! Every film has a crew (well... most do!) and though it can be a fulfilling and rewarding experience, it is always great to have the director throwing out the love!

Roman, your stuff looks great here. I am looking forward to your film!

I agree with you Theodore.

I have so many great things to say about each member of the production crew... I was very impressed with them... I've been at various sets before, but never seen the performance I saw in this crew. The actors were phenomenal.

The day before principal photography we did a photo-shoot for the props and we had this young actress named Alexis... which I met way after audition had taken place. It was a hard decision to make because I have already met lots of talented girls but Alexis she just got what I was looking for and +... that means more than what I was hoping to get. She was great. She appears as Erica in the movie... the main focus character of the story. I really look forward to working with her again.

I love it when you find the "right" actor for a role.

That happened for us on TTN. We had auditioned 48 people. I knew that I could cast the film from what the actors that I saw. But we had one actor left to see. She walked in the room and I knew that she was one of our leads! She had the look and the demeanor that I envisioned when I wrote the role.

I was so excited and a little afraid to audition her (just in case she was awful!) But she nailed it!

Gotta love it when things like that happen.

I know! I hear your! thats how my casting was for all my actors... none of them were in the audition... rather post meetings after that. All thanks do Dolores the mother of one of my lead actors... she made some recommendations and was very persistent.

Here are some stills of Alexis in the character of Erica

Wow. Im really looking forward to this movie. Our rough cut we submitted to drama fest seems to be slowly sinking lower and lower into the mud. hahaha.

This looks like a great project and the fact that you shot it in a 21 hour period is really impressive. I love the chance to see the BTS photos, things like a proper sync slate and great sticks tell me you are no stranger to this industry.

I am really looking forward to seeing your entry in this fest.

Hey Roman,
I am really looking forward to this film. I like the grabs and stills. 21 hour schedule! Damn, your crew must have been amazing. If you ever need an extra hand on a shoot send me an e-mail or pm. I love working on lively sets with great crews.

I wish it wasn't a stranger... this is my first short movie and I really wanted it to look good... I poured out my pockets into this movie so I rented what I needed to rent to make this look professional... As a result now I have a short I am proud of and eating Romen noodles soup for dinner. :)

When I rented the slate, I was asking the tech people at Professional Sound Service in NYC, (which they were very helpful) "So how does this slate work? how can I use it for with the camera? how do I actually take advantage of it?" they started to explain and used some tech-y words and then I was like "wow I have no idea what you just said..." then he tried one more time and use a simple language.

it was fun, I learned a lot. We used it to sync with the audio of course.

And that was jus for the shoot.

A few hours of sleep and Nathan my sound mixer, Jessica my DP and I were up and running doing inventory of the equipment to return to the rental houses. That was a loooong morning I tell you.

Jessica was sooooOO good at her technical job. She really took good care of those equipment we rented from Du All Cameras. She made sure everything was clean and organized ready to return them... Once we got to the rental house she placed everything in displayed for them to check. They trusted her professionalism and did not even bother to look at them. They asked, "is everything there?" she responded "yes" then we were rolling to the next rental house.

Nathan who did the sound mixing and wrote the original score for the movie... he also took great care of the equipments. He was also really good at it... this guy was like, "if you are shooting HD and the picture is going to look good... they I am going to give you slamming audio that will sound better than what the picture looks"... He really cared for the project and he worked weeks with long nights way pass production wrapped. He challenged himself to make the audio HD equivalent quality and he did. 48kHz at 24bit.

good stuff roman, people seem to be liking it so far even before they get to see it, I'm glad I finally got around to reading this thread.

The 21 hours thing was nothin! I coulda kept going all nite! can't wait to see the final product!

So important! I love people who don't cut any corners when it comes to sound. It really brings the film to another level when you've got professional sound.

Wow, I can't believe I've just stumbled into this thread. This is looking really good. I like your shots very much. The bridge one is great. It really does look like you have a solid crew and setup of equipment there, very nice.

This is great I love all these last minute entries that are looking great (for viewing at least, not the competition:grin:)

Here is one Screen grab from the actual movie.

These are my lead actors Eric and Christian... they are great actors... I was very pleased with how professional they were on the set. Top notch.

We shot the movie in one day = 21hrs non stop.

I love that shot. Is that a fish I see? I have a few of those in my movie. This is turning out to be a cool fest. Can't wait to see your film.
