Drama-Fest Voting Instructions

Welcome to our new and simplified voting system, starting with Drama-Fest. Starting with this DVXFest, we'll no longer have the complicated spreadsheet ballots we've been experimenting with in past fests. All you have to do is vote for your favorite film--period. One user, one vote--that's it. Users still need a minimum of 100 posts to vote (and please don't pad your post count with a lot of junk or we'll just throw away your vote). Detailed critiques of cinematography, sound mixes, etc, should be posted on the individual film threads. A couple of thoughtful sentences are much more useful than wondering what a 6.23 means. :)

Future fests will have an automated voting system, but for DramaFest, users should just private message me with their votes. Please include your current post count in the PM along with the SINGLE title of your favorite film. Not your top three, top two, top ten, or top anything-other-than-one film. And please, no changing votes. Thanks and congratulations to all the participating filmmakers!

What's my case? Can I vote? I submitted a film, though for certain reasons I had to pull out after sending. Thx.

I had heard that submitting a film also qualified you to vote - not true?

This hasn't been the case in the past, but the main reason for the rule is to prevent filmmakers from recruiting people to just drop in and vote for their films. We want the voters to be bona fide site members. However, I think it's reasonable to allow filmmakers submitting a film to vote. So the Director OR Producer of a film may vote even if he/she has less than 100 votes. But only one person per film can take advantage of this limited-time offer--ie, your whole crew can't vote if they each have less than 100 posts. I think that's reasonable.

Barry,

When the voting is complete, will you tell the filmmakers how many votes they got and will we be able to see how many votes for each entry relative to the other entries?

Thanks.

WE had to go alll through the ballot system to get to this simple, elegent solution? lol Thank you Barry.

We'll be announcing 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place--period. No numbers whatsoever. Honestly, the best feedback you can get will be on your individual film threads.

Thanks Barry.... I guess now I can vote....
great

The system should be up by Friday night. I need to prescreen the films to make sure there aren't any technical or other problems, and Larry & company are still getting the server system up and running smoothly.

Excellent news re: voting. Thanks.

I will use our single vote wisely, fairly, and with the full authority vested in me by the friendly voices in my head.

i absolutely love your avatar, ambassadortex. wes anderson is an idol of mine. -- the life aquatic is a fantastic, beautiful film.
