New Mr. Deity episode shot with HVX/M2 combo

Brian... They are really great stuff man and love the last one. I think you handle the dialogue quite well indeed. I also know what its like to have to take a role on your own stuff when no one else wants to do it. I've had to take on a couple for my sketches so far because it's easier than begging people or dealing with that nonsense. Congrats on getting the views and all of that. I am still in pre-pro on a few more sketches myself that I'm hoping to pop off when I get done with some work...

Looking forward to the next one...

I'd just like to add to what Justyn said. I really think you handle yourself extremely well in front of the camera. You're dialogue is great regardless, but you really push it to 11 with you comedic timing. If this does indeed get picked up, don't shy away from starring in it yourself. You have a great look, a nice vocal sound and again...your timing is great.

You could probably include the bit about your always forgetting Jesus' name in every episode and it will always be funny.

Which reminds me, kudos to not going the typical route with the "long haired hippie Jesus" and making him look like a Banana Republic model. Just adds to the hilarity.

I'm curious. You have some solid Biblical truths in these episodes. Can you tell us a little bit about your background or foundation for creating the episodes?

DAMN! hahaha, great concept, great execution, great acting, great script, the greats just keep on coming. I can't think of anything at all to criticise - even if i tried. Amazing video - i watched it 5 times. Thank you so much for that, and i hope you keep it up!

Possibly a kind of Inside the Diety Studio.. with Mr. Diety. It would be cool to know your background and see where it's all coming from...

Just got back from Vegas to find these comments. Thanks to everyone who's enjoyed them. We've now had over a quarter million views in less than two weeks and broken into the top fifty on the iTunes comedy podcast charts. In fact, today we're featured in the "new and notable" section, so hopefully we'll climb some more.

As for my background... I have a really strong theological background. I was devoutly religious for many years and spent two years working for one of the leading Jewish theologians/philosophers on the planet. I'm not religious any more, but I still love religion and religious people. I love that they are concerned about big things like Good and Evil, right and wrong, ethics, existence, creation. I don't necessarily agree with their answers any more, but I respect the struggle.

Keep gettin' the word out. We really want to do this as a half-hour series on HBO, Showtime, Comedy Central --- anyone with the guts. Over the weekend, I personally handed DVDs to "Teller" of Penn and Teller, and Trey Parker from South Park. I don't know if they'll watch them, but at least I gave it a try --- I suck at shameless self-promotion, but I'm getting better. Thanks again.

i love this...and i hate most things....you are brilliant in front of the camera!!! gorgeous shots with the m2!!!

Amazing job. Not to mention, totally hilarious! great acting/production/etc.... I didn't read any other responses, but I'm sure they're probably similar.... as they say on ebay, A+++

What kind of mics and audio setup did you use, especially outside on "The Book"

These are very well done.

Thanks Gary. The mic is an AT4073a. And it was in a blimp. We haven't released that one officially because it got so windy that we could get the close-up coverage. We'll be reshooting it soon --- and this time, we're taking a blimp AND a shaggy dog. Take THAT wind noise!

Actually, we could tell that it was going from West to East. Plus, my mother-in-law is born of the Spirit, and she's totally predictable. So, there's another theory down the tubes.

Btw, we've got a new episode up. Here's the h.264 version (which you can't get anywhere else -- a DVXUser exclusive!): http://mrdeity.com/mrdeityep6.html
It's also up at YouTube if anyone cares.

Brian, I have said before, in another thread, that I thought the trailer for "15 minutes..... later" was a laugh riot. Is the full length short/feature released for sale or downloadable?

No. The movie isn't even shot. In fact, we started doing Mr. Deity so that maybe we could get a name going for ourselves and get some money to make that thing. The original movie (called "Killing The Dream") got all the way up to Miramax and Focus features acquisition, who liked it but thought it was too low rent for them. And it was. We shot it run-and-gun on an XL-1s. The two leads for 15 Minutes Later were supposed to be the leads for Mr. Deity. But the time committment and other things got in the way. B

Thanks for the feedback Brian. All the best with getting your projects off the ground, you have an amazing ability to write, act and produce. Your sense of humor has me on the floor laughing. Especially episode 5 of Mr Deity, damn that is good...
