Saw elsewhere a copy/paste from the company representative indicating that production starts in three weeks, and shipping pre orders in four weeks.

No price

Kinda hard to pre order something without knowing the price.

There are so many posts elsewhere, I thought I start a new one here as FYI

That's a very good news! Thanks
It seems there's nothing about it on their site for now, gonna wait and see...

sorry, what does "FYI" mean?

I wish they would publicly quote a price for the adapter, but I think that most people will buy it regardless of whether it is $75 or $200 -- they may get sticker shock, but the functionality the adapter provides is so urgently needed by anyone with a new high-end laptop that in the end, the price won't matter.

Nice price point, $119 (according to the above-linked article). I'm thinking that even though I do have a PCMCIA slot, I might get one of these anyway for my ExpressCard slot. That way I could have two cards loaded at once; with EDIUS and Vegas w/RayLight now supporting direct editing right from the cards, two cards at once would make editing from the cards instantaneous and much more practical.

I wonder, since they're on different busses, if you could simultaneously offload two cards on the same laptop -- one to a USB drive, one to a firewire drive -- with no speed drop. That would be fairly killer.

Internally, I think all the peripherals share the same PCI bus. But the bus bandwidth is fairly high, so it might be able to sustain 2 full speed transfers. Worth a try.

just got an email from duel systems and the adaptor is scheduled to be shipped the week of feb 19th. currently one bug on the pc adaptor. mac adaptor is 2 weeks delayed. also, was told about a panasonic p2 driver issue which duel systems is waiting for an update and are working closely w/ panny.
