I hate the FS-4Pro + A1 combo

I swear I want to throw this piece of sh!t FS through a wall. about 3 out of 10 recorded clips have timecode breaks which results in my m2t to mov conversions to be out of sync audio/footage.

ARG!!!!!!!!!!

There's a "Fix timecode breaks" option at the bottom of the edit menu in MPEG Streamclip.

Command-F. Give it a try.

Thanks Elton. I did that already, then saved the file and then dragged that file into the batch window. Is that how it's done?

EDIT: I just found a different way to convert the fixed timecode clip. It's converting now, will report back in a few.

UPDATE: No change in the results.

You could always try playing back the clips through firewire to the camera and record them to tape with new timecode, or just loop through and capture within the Log and Capture window in FCP.

I could bt that wouldn't resolve the bigger issue which is why the heck this is happening. Too many clips come out like this, it's really frustrating and defeating. I just tried so many things and have the same result over and over, it's horrible feeling. One thing I did notice is that even though I set Streamclip to correct any timecode breaks, during the actual conversion theres a warning that says there's a break in the footy, lol. Looks like the timecode repairer doesn't fix them.

Ok so I read through the entire manual again and found a small paragraph that advises reformatting the unit before each recording session to avoid timecode drop outs. I reformatted and hope all is well now.

Oh boy, you have some continuing problems with the FS-4pro. I'm with you that the information given by the support department on the facts what is, and what is not possible with the combination A1+ FS-4pro+ FCP is lacking. It's confusing and dealers don't now what to do. Once they told the world that this was a working combo.

curious if your problems are FCP specific, or XHA1 or FS-4 in general (asking 'cause I'm not an Appler...)

xray, I know, it sucks that they basically led Canon users on with their info.

barye my issues are primarily with the workflow of a mac user. I don't think windows users have to do any file conversions.

I was just on the Focus Firestore website and I think it's interesting to note that in their compatibility chart they ONLY list the FSC as compatible with the XH-A1.
