Hi all,

I have heard that you need to download a p2 driver to get FCP to recognize your P2 cards. Where can you download this from? I searched the apple site and could not find.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Cant import

Cant import

I am attempting to import the media from my P2 card with the text report and everything, but it will not open in Final Cut Pro. I keep getting a message saying one or more files is corrupted but I did everything properly I dont know why I cant import the footage.

Please Help!

I also downloaded the driver manager so I already have that.

I have exactly the same problems before..

After I download FCP 5.1.2 upgraded. Installed, and then the problem solved.

But my MACPRO didn't recoignised my HVX when it is in USB mode, can anyone tell me what should I do?

thanks

The HVX talks to Macs via Firewire, don't use USB with the Mac.

TANGENT - Can't import from HD into FCP

TANGENT - Can't import from HD into FCP

I can "import from P2 card" directly from FCP. *BUT* For files that I've just dragged-and-dropped into a folder from the P2 onto a hard disk (my laptop's) I can't seem to get FCP to understand the XML and MXL files. From P2, imports directly as .MOV files. But off HD, says I need to choose a "transitional file."

Probably need a Mac version of the P2 reader or something. But can't seems to figure this out. :undecided

HELP!!!

Did you preserve all the P2 card data with the CONTENTS folder and LASTCLIP.TXT file? If you just saved the MXF files, didn't keep the LASTCLIP.TXT file or renamed anything, FCP may not recognize the clips.

Figured it out: For those who don't know, here's the page that describes what to do. Even in FCP 5.0.4 (Also, if you go in your FCP application to: help>HD and Broadcast Formats>page 70) But here it is, even though it may be a little funky looking in this window:

Importing P2 Media From a Hard Disk
If you have an unsupported device, or a folder of media files that originally came from
a P2 memory card, you can still use the Import Panasonic P2 window to import media
from a hard disk.
To import P2 media from a hard disk:
1 Choose File > Import > Panasonic P2.
2 Click the Add Path (+) button to the right of the Volumes/Paths pop-up menu.
An Open dialog appears.
3 Select a folder that contains Panasonic P2 media, then click Open. (***I just Selected the "CONTENTS" Folder)
4 In the Reel Name field, enter a reel name for the selected folder.
5 When the list of media files appears in the Import Panasonic P2 window, do one of the
following:
Select one or more media files to be imported, then click Import.
Click Import All to import all the media files in the selected folder.
Final Cut Pro only recognizes P2-compliant folders that include the original media files,
descriptive metadata, and a corresponding set of XML index files. If you need to copy the
contents of a P2 card to a hard disk, duplicate the contents without making any changes.

Hope this helps real newbies (such as myself) as much as it helped me!

You have to copy the CONTENTS folder and the LASTLCLIP.TXT file together, in tact. Then in the FCP P2 Import window, manually point FCP to the CONTENTS folder. It'll work fine. If you do ANYTHING else, you're not going to get results.

Also, download my little freebie about the FS-100 and FCP below, it covers the P2 import window, it's the same for P2 cards.

Also Final Cut Express does NOT support DVCPRO-HD and P2 format.

I did not load any Panasonic software on my Mac Pro. FCP 5.1 automatically finds the P2 card when the HVX is in 1394 mode and imports.
