I really need some help guys, I just got my new laptop in and I am freakin' out! I ordered a new dell inspiron E1505 or 6400 its the same thing, and I started to play with it for a little bit and then I installed vegas and all the usual that you do with a new laptop and then I wanned to plug the p2 card in there and bang!! guess what either I am really stupid or I dont know what is going on because I called dell and they are saying that the p2 card will not work with the express card slot that my laptop has, but how come the p2 card fits perfectly on this so much called "express card slot" please dont tell me I am gonna have to buy an adapter, please guys anyone help, what is the cheapest solution, or is dell wrong and my laptop really does take the reglular PCMCIA card? thanks guys

there has to be an alternative, I cant be the only one with this laptop that has a hvx and p2cards, some one help i gotta use this laptop for editing, any alternatives or adaptors?

Put your laptop up for sale on eBay immediately. Cut whatever losses you have to. Use the money to purchase the correct laptop for your needs.

I have an HP nx9600 with 3.6Ghz P4, 2GB RAM, X600, and a 100GB 720RPM HDD - it's great . You might be able to find some on clearance for a very reasonable price.

Or you can connect the camera to the laptop using a USB cable and transfer the card's contents that way.

It's not a bad laptop, and PCMCIA is becoming rare in new laptops. If your shooting style allows for breaks, you can dump the P2 card contents over USB2 until a ExpressCard-to-PCMCIA adapter becomes available.

you know I was searching through the site and I saw the threads on that new adapter that was supposed to come out a long time ago and still nothing, anyone has any info on the dual systems adapter, I guess its my fault that I did not pay any atention to the card specs when I bought the laptop but damn I cant belive I cannot dump my p2 footage to this new laptop, I am just gonna sell it, you are right man

What Thoff said. Just use the usb port on the camera and dump your footage that way for now, until the adapter comes out.

A lot of people use USB to offload their footage. It just takes longer.

That's exacly how I offload most of the time. Unfortunately, this ties up your camera while you offload.

Alternatevely, you could use a USB-On-The-Go (USB OTG) drive to copy off the contents. This would still tie up your camera, but at least it wouldn't also tie up your notebook.

thats funny because Mark Harris bought the same computer, and got the same surprise. Apparently t he lliterature on it is wrong and it says it has a PCI slot, when in fact it has an Express slot.
