The coming weeks Orphic Film (based in the Netherlands) will work on a contribution to the Drama Fest with the short film FADE. It will be an abstract mood piece, with a clear dialog structure in a surreal setting.

Actors Geerteke van Lierop and Chris Mennen (both starred in the previous project Scripted Work) are very dedicated to this new project. Rehearsels are planned for January 16th (the script will be finetuned the coming days). Principal shooting will take place on January 23th, at the big stage of a theatre in my hometown.

No doubt further progress regarding FADE will be added to this thread.

Update:

We have some great news. The English band Son Ver is participating in Fade and will compose and perform the musical soundtrack for the movie.

Update January 9th:

Textwriter Gert Fokkens has joined the team for finetuning the script and as a co-director.

The script is finished, thanks to Gert his bright ideas.
 
Update January 14th:

- Sound recording on the set will be done by Jan Schermer (www.posta.nl)
- The storyboard is in progress
- Son Ver has delivered the first audio demo, a moody and chilling composition
- We bought 88 meters of sheet...
 
Wow...I didn't think anyone else would have that title for a film! That is the title I've got my entry. I didn't want to create a thread until a day or two before the fest started, u beat me to it! :) I'll come up with something new!

Update January 17th:

- Yesterday evening we rehearsed the script with the actors while a friend cooked us a magnificant pasta diner, it was great fun and the film was coming to life for everybody.
- Son Ver has produced a first demo of the full soundscape and music production, it's a very moody and abstract piece of work, almost an artwork on it's own! During the rehearsels we had a good playback of their work. Everybody was impressed and it helped to get a better 'picture' of Fade.
- All official arangements have been confirmed with the theatre in Alkmaar (our hometown in The Netherlands). We will film January 23th on the big stage of Theater de Vest (www.theaterdevest.nl).

Shooting on a theater, interesting. Good luck with the shoot. Oh and your link is goofed for the theater, you need to take out the ")" at the end of it.

Update January 22th:
- We're gonna shoot al footage tomorrow at the theatre, wish us luck. We are with a team of nine people, including the cast (two persons) and a theatre-technician (who helps with the light and theatre construction system). If all goes well within plan, we have a full day to shoot all footage, and have some extra time to experiment with extra scenes etc. The camera-equipment (DVX100 PAL) has been checked, extra master tapes have been bought and all batteries are fully loaded. Let's rock!
 
Update January 25th:
We had an good and enjoyable shooting day last Tuesday. A second edit of Fade has been made and will be the reference for Son Ver creating their tunes for the the film.

Update January 30th:
- The editing is completed, including English subtitles.
- Today the final audio in 5.1 surround has been mixed and mastered on the Protools system of Studio Posta (www.posta.nl), it sounds really strong.
- We're very pleased with the end result, hopefully the dvxusers will feel the same.
- Tomorrow morning early it's all about H.264 (just bought Apple QT Pro) and PAL to NTSC conversion. Pfffeewww....
 
Peter, those BTS stills look good. I really like the look and feel of that set with the white sheets raining down. That hazar should be exciting as well! I've wanted to use one on a shoot for so long (I actually have one) but I've yet to be in a location that would permit it's use.

I'm glad the editing went well and you got your 5.1 mix. I'm excited to see your film.
 
Good to hear from you, Geoff. I'm doing some testing with the H.264 encoding and it it goes into the right direction for the QT file. The PAL to NTSC conversion went great, using Vegas 7.
