Hey Guys,

I thought i'd post this because i've had a lot of PM's about it.

How to get sweet video quality for Youtube/Flash:

Here are some short clips of mine so u can see what i'm on about, If you can already get nice clear flash video's then there's probably no point reading ahead...

...ok so these r the settings:

I use sorenson squeeze with the .flv setting of 1mbps, The codec to be used is "Sorenson Spark Pro" 1-Pass CBR, Frame size is 320 x 240

Thats pretty much it guys, I hope this helps

hey ben, thanks for posting this. I had to link yout post to someone that needed info onhow to get a nice clear video for youtube. Good job on the setting.

For the mac users i found this in another thread in the Output /Compression forum i have yet to try it but i thought i would post it here.

640x480 MP4 @ 700 kbps
128 for audio

I think the audio rate could be lower depending on your content and needs for audio quality.

I just encoded a clip at the settings i mentioned above and it looked terrible in quicktime. i didnt even bother trying to upload to youtube but i would think their compression would make it even worse . time for more experimenting.

I think that these compression settings are great for youtube however, I have been having some trouble watching some of these videos due to a streaming issue. I have tried viewing them from several different locations with high speed internet. I have a super fast connection however, I get watch, stop and catch up kinda of video. Anyone else have this problem watching these videos?

Yeah the Flash method produces a very clear image, but for some reason it takes FOREVER to load.

Yeah i hear u,

They don't stream well but i'd prefer to wait a few secs and have quality vids intead of vids that play straight away and look like poo.

hey im trying out flv for you tube ,ive been using some good luck with a decent avi then quick time every other week something is really good .
i have sorenson codect but not that pro codect i think
mike d
but thanks for the tip!!

Not really a good example

Not really a good example

Generally speaking those are OK settings but you can't really tell much from this particular clip. So little of the overall picture changes from frame to frame that it would be impossible to get similar quality for anything with full-frame motion.

Yeah, gotta admit, this is pretty much worthless as a test. Not saying there's anything wrong with the settings one way or the other, but this vid is not a proper test vehicle. :(

Hey, i haven't been on for a while. I welcome someone else here to show a better video quality test for youtube then submit the superior settings. Geez it's hard to keep you guys happy:laugh:

I have a video but it is from a project that needs to stay private that looks great on youtube and streams fast. I did it in QT, h.264, 1000mbps, 640X480, maintain aspect ratio with letterbox. It looks almost as good as the flash stuff and streams MUCH better. I think the key here is the bitrate.

ash =o)
