Greatest Uncut Steadicam Scenes Of All Time

Thought technically not a "steadicam" shot, this one set the standard for everyone else.

Let's see, others I like...

*Pulp Fiction: Travolta Walks around Jack Rabbit Slims
*Res Dogs: Mr. Blonde Gets Gas Can out of Car
*Mean Streets: It's only about 30 seconds long, but I've always loved this shot. (It's 90 seconds into the clip) BTW, also my all time fav movie.

Correction: Maybe it wasn't a steadicm shot after all. Wasn't it invented in the mid to late 70's?

I'll try to think of some more.

THE PROTECTOR (TOM YUM GOONG) The staircase fight scene was incredibly technical and a flawless aquisition. Top notch stunts also, i feel for the guys who went over the side.

Agreed, one of my top favorites as well and the choreography of the fight sequence and action was very creative. Is there an English language version out there?

I've been doing Steadicam work at a UFC Mixed Martial Arts training facility here in Vegas and it's one heck of a workout for me and them!

This one is not particularly long... the climax to Ichi the Killer, where Ichi chases Kakihara up the stairs to the rooftop of the yakuza apartment. the tape is sped up and slowed down in different points, and the camera strangely changes itself from a third person point of view to Ichi's point of view towards the end of the shot, accomplished by a change in where Kakihara looks to.

Sean of the Dead.

You know what I'm talking about

Someone please post the YouTube because I can't find it right now.

Touch of Evil, opening shot, Director Orson Welles.

Not necessarily a steadicam shot, but it is one continuous take for something like 3 & 1/2 minutes and it covers a lot of ground and a lot of action.

But amen to the Russian Arc slam. Interesting idea--but there's a reason it's not done more often.

I don't agree. Russian Ark shot (the whole film) serves different purpose. It's symbolic, it's about flow of time, like a river that we see in beautiful final scene. Technically, the shot is flawless, never felt motion sickness like with some other examples. Kudo's to them for pulling it out.

Tom Yung Goong scene was fantastic. Action ballet!

That's one of my favorite moments. I went with my sisters to go see Russian Ark on opening night in Seattle....and then went back the next night with my wife.

That was awsome. And a perfect example of what you can do with a Dolly and a Crane. Those shots scare us Steadicam operators :) No really, top notch stuff.

That Tom Yom Goong has shot (link) has to be one of my nominations for "most impressive" Steadicam shot. You can read more about it here.

I see Rob allready covered steadishots.org, there's some amazing stuff on there.

The Goodfellas nightclub entrance shot (link) is definatly a awsome shot from Steadicam master Larry McConkey, even the simpson's version (link) isn't too shabby!

The first real long Steadicam shot I actually noticed is the closing scene from Much Ado About Nothing. (link) A long walk through a garden party at a huge mension that ends in a awsome crane shot out of a maze.

Carlito's way is another great Steadicam film that I didn't notice mentioned. The "Grand central station chase" (link) is fantastic operating - also Larry McConkey.

Not a superb quality shot really, and not known for it's impressiveness as a steadicam shot - it's prety simple - however the most famous shot on a Steadicam has to be a shot adopted from Garrett's original demo reel: "The Rocky Shot." (link)
At prety much any given time, there is always someone running up those steps.

There's so much great operating in so many films, and TV programs, it's hard to list them all.

Great links, Mikko! That Goodfellas scene is exactly the one I meant, although the other one, meeting the wiseguys was equally as good. It was nice seeing it again without having to search through the DVD.

Russian Ark, Definetly. Steadicam was part of the concept of the movie. Very well shot and staged altogether.

Did like the Snake Eyes use of steadicam. It was brilliant.
