Please read "P2 8Gig slashed price..." post.

I meet VIDEOPLUS tomorrow to TRY to negociate a quantity price for upcoming 16Gig P2 for DVXuser users...

...and to get a reward too! ;-)

Will report my visit and tell you if a quantity buy is possible (group buy).

i want a 8gig.....if more people are interested, a 8g p2 group buy might be profitable for them also.
I know the tread is about 16g p2 , for me 8gig is enough so its just a suggestion.Take it with a grain of salt.
Merci Jenny.

Okay. I have my appointment with VIDEOPLUS within 2 hours.
Will talk about a quantity buy both for 8Gig & upcoming 16Gig.

So, we could setup 2 group buy lists based on offer and yours feedbacks.

Because of the €/$ rate, bad for US fellows here, I plan to do the same with
a major US dealer, to get offer in $.

Will post my meeting result later tonite.

But, anyway, please pass along the info to build here a significantly large buyers group.

Stay tuned!

Heck, try to negotiate a pricepoint on 4, 8 and 16. They all make sense in different applications.

Good luck, and remember, the whole team is counting on you.

Worth a shot. Good luck to you and your European brethren. Hopefuly you or someone can work out a similar deal with a U.S. distributor as well.

Spec,
Maybe you should start a thread for a Panny 16gig group buy reservation list?

Have x amount of people allowed, limit 2 per customer, and give a nice % off of the average retail price when they debut. 10-15% or something.

Could do a groupbuy list for the 8 gig cards as well, since there will likely be some folks wanting to snatch those up when the 16's come out.

Later,
Jason

We don't know what the pricing or the margin will be on the 16GB cards. We can't disclose the cost, but we can setup a great price once we know what it is.

Now, on 8GB cards, if we can get 50 people in a week or so and they are willing to preorder, we can do $1039, a little better if there are more people.

What I don't understand is whether Panasonic is selling 8Gb cards to European dealers where they can make a profit at $725.00 USD.

Are there two pricing structures, or am I missing something about what we are learning about 8Gb cards in Germany/France and their pricing?

Fellows,

Am just back from my VIDEOPLUS meeting.
What happened with the 550€ combined with my initial posts made them aware of our buying power.

I asked them 2 group buys:

- one for 100 8Gig P2
- one for 100 16Gig P2
Meant simultaneous 100 units delivery, paid cash.

I have to talk to the person making all the purchases for VIDEOPLUS on tuesday.

This is it for the facts, and the ongoing discussion where we can learn a lot of things for a 100 P2 buy, because it is not a very common deal.
How a french dealer can deal depends on how Pana France can discount, or not.
But, this a good start to know the different "flavors" of dealers/national Panasonic.
These guys are open-minded and cool, I wish they can do something.

NOW BACK TO OUR END-USERS COMMUNITY ORGANIZING GROUP BUY.

To be powerful and efficient, our group must be very united around attractive goals (what a worthy discount price for P2, by ex. ) and well organized.

Here are my thoughts about some main principles:
this applies to P2, for now...

1 - DISCOUNT. Which base discount can be considered a target to motivate our group effort?
10% approx. I agree with the 10-15% here above.

2 - PERIODIC QUANTITY GROUP BUY. We must buy a certain quantity at the same time paid cash. Why? Our buying power.
We could setup a group list until we reach 100 P2. When 100 purchase intends are reached we make a BID to several dealers (competition).
The best offered price is proposed to the group. Majority okaying the deal.
As soon as the list reaches 100 pieces, we start another group list.
We invest into a repeting buying process.

3 - REGIONS. For obvious and different reasons, we must have a US area list/bid
and an EEC area list/bid:
1 - the $/€ exchange rate
2 - people wish to buy on their territory, in their own currency.
3 - Pana distribution scheme and deals differs between US and EEC. We must study their practices to take advantage of it.

4 - PAYMENT. Either the P2 provider accept individual end-user payment on agreed DVXuser price, or we use Paypal to credit one of us, agreed by our group. Why? Our buying power 100 P2 >> around 100 k$ cash the deal. Very effective, believe me...

5 - GROUP AGENT. Am offering some of my time to speak/deal for our group, DVXusers end-users group, and I welcome any help, or anyone more known here than I am, to represent us. One voice = very important. Buying power..

These structuring principles are very important to discuss and agree. Our power is our unity. So, the discussion is open !

Some comments:

- First, if someone want to talk to me, please PM me, w'll give you my phone.

- The better we know the Panasonic distribution method and scheme, the better we act as distribution professionals, best are the deals. Isn't it?
So, it is very interesting to expose the bid not only to Panny resellers, but to talk with Panasonic directly, User Group buying at this level could be a little revolution, they need to be aware, and to face us. I can do it at Pana US & Europe. Eyes to eyes.

- To help the group, I have an EEC registered company, always good to talk or deal even more with, in the name of us.
This company is about to be registered as a branch at the NYC Chamber of Commercy, offering advantages for the US part of our project.
Am regularly in the US.
Again, if an US fellow, agreed by our group wish to bring the same "company advantage", please do.

Better not to overload our discussion, but you got the growing idea.
Please remember:
- Let us be united.
- Let us focus our buying power.

I would go into this buy for 3 8gig cards.

Am I clear on this:

Are you starting with a 550 euro price for a 8gig card and then looking to see who will offer the better discount on a group buy of 100?

So 550 euro ($710 US as of today) and seeing which dealers will offer 10 -15 percent off for a group buy bringing a a total cost of $639 - $603 US?

I'm unclear as to payment method. It would be good to make payments individually to seller as part of a group buy.

Can we get these figures in USD at these current rates?

Are we talking $725.00 for 8Gb cards with what additional costs for shipping and unknown international charges?

Remember warranty and support guys. Authorized repair centers in the US or Panasonic US will not be able to help you with Gray Market cards.

Im in for one 8gig card. At this price i dont care about anymore discount its already cheap.
If i can do anything to help just tell me Jenny.

David In respect to duties each country has his own rules. Nothing hidden or secret about it.For example in canada u just pay goverment sales tax to the delivery company.
As for shipping it shouldnt be too expensive.
This thread is gonna cause lots of concern to dealers who still sell the p2 at expensive price.

Spec,

please, read well. 2 group buys by region to avoid cross-bordering and grey-marketing.
So, US end-users will buy to the dealer THE GROUP will choose democratically.
Understand, too, that we are discussing between end-users to define TOGETHER our common interest in this idea.

We don't need to be a reseller to understand and take advantage of distribution channels.
But, we have a clear vision of what is correct to comply with warranty and support, region by region.

We understand your opportunity, and competition could help other dealers to offer in an equally manner.

The first success of this idea is that you already propose a discounted price.
So, your input demonstrates clearly that we must push forward the best deal value, because if you react this way, other dealers will do the same.

Repair a p2 card?

Not certain what that entails

And are these grey market or just European?

The argument seems a little like when government tells us that prescription drugs in Canada "aren't safe."
