HVX Mustang GT moving footage

As a side project of a product review, Kendal Miller and myself cut a short Mustang GT spec using the HVX. There are a few short Z1U HDV shots in there as well.

You can watch the spot in H.264 Quicktime format (20MB) and in Flash also. EDIT: Bandwidth is getting hammered, here's another mirror of the QT file.

Here's a screencap from the HVX footage:

Shot mainly 24p native, there are a few 60p and various overcranked shots as well. Obviously the Sony HDV footage was all 60i (probably 2-3 shots total, all the night stuff). Enjoy.

Have you posted this footage before? I already have this file from earlier last year.

Still looks great, though.

Then you have a quick trigger! :-) After initially posting the GT clip, the link was removed till we had time to finish the full camera mount product review. Also, bandwidth was an issue at the time. Shouldn't be now.

Overall it looked really nice. Is it supposed to be spec for commercial purposes? if so, too long.
True. Really intended more for demo footage.

i'll agree w/ the length comment earlier... but some nice stuff & i'm a porsche guy. wish ya had some more foot driving stuff (ie.: heel to toe stuff, etc.) & maybe even some shots thru some twisties.

so it's more of a : what you can do w/ this camera mount kind of demo?

the hvx footage is nice.

btw: will read your review. looking for a rig, was lookin' @ the sticky pods... how fast could you go & stop w/ the rig? think you could you track a car w/ it?

cheers & bol w/ it. ### okay just saw the review. nice job. i think i'd pass w/ those plastic joints & no straps etc... ;)

YEs you could track a car with it. We got up to about 50-55mph with this particular rig that would be about all I would want to stress it.

... that's funny, i also meant track (as in race track). i noticed the hand (yours?) on the hvx out the window. that's what i'd be doing too. though i do think the "play" in the movement of the rig afford some movement to aviod snapping off. much like tall building are meant to sway in am earthquake.

i'll be shooting some triple digit speeds & would like to avoid rentals... sticky pod seems the best for the buck so far...

the shot off the rear of the car to the mustang was surprisingly stable....

again nice work.

I liked it, it looked like a commercial except, and I know this sounds picky,
but I noticed it right up, the shoes and jeans, they got to go. It's a MUSTANG
so the person needs to be wearing, imo, Cowboy Boots and dark jeans.
You need a manly-man look, not a guy who looks like he's just been at the park.

Titles

Great choice of music to go with a fantastic sequence! :)

BTW about midway through there where some titles in a kinda fore ground/back ground type sequence.... how was this done, roughly?

Indy.....

1. Pretty tough to keep the rack focus :) LOL Hopefully I'll be getting better at that with a little more practice.

2.They type sequence was done in AE using 3D text layers and a 3D camera, I animated the dof properties of the camera and staggered the text out throughout the 3D space mostly along the Z axis, then I just animated the camera orientations, position and DOF to select each text element.

3. Charli I totally agree we should have classed up the driver unfortunately at the time it was pretty spur of the moment to get some B-roll interiors we had been thinking of doing mostly car exteriors. So next time I'll definitely plan ahead a little better.

That was my first thought as well when I watched it. The shoes definitely have to go.
