When shooting with an HVX in tape mode under low-light conditions, is the HVX still a light hog? Or does shooting SD in tape mode make it act like a DVX giving you better low light performance?
The HVX sensor performance is what it is, independendently of the recording medium.
The physics are such that the size of the pixel buckets on the chip determine the sensitivity. The DVX has bigger buckets on the sensor than the HVX pixel buckets (because the HVX has more pixel buckets in a given space than the DVX) hence the DVX has greater sensitivity.
This has nada, zip, zero to do with what the picture gets recorded to in the end.
