Music Video Shot on A1 (link provided)

Ah, yeah? That wouldn't saturate the colors too much?

And thanks about the new house! :)

Of course every situation is different, but I don't think it oversaturates. You can always bring it down in post.

OK... long overdue promise... See the first couple of posts for stills of footage withOUT color correction... enjoy!

Great Job! If you had 2 more locations you could easily have gotten paid for this quality of work. Hey Elton any other settings you can share? I am seriously considering getting an A1. I hope UPS is hiring! :)

DCCowan,

Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed this. The long lens and superwide stuff look great together. A totally refreshing clip. Thanks for sharing.

... "ashes remain" - a alt/rock band.
...

In truth they are a baby Jesus a.k.a. Christian band. Not so much alt/rock as Christian alt/rock.

Very nice images.

The Lip Sinc seemed a bit out of whack in the beginning and it would have been nice to a bit more variety of shots.

Well done for your first outing.

Keep up your good work!

Those are uncorrected stills? They look fantastic. I can see why you didn't need to tweak them much. Nice job.

I know.

I was amazed at the colors just as they were... of course, Sedona has such rich colors... it truly is an amazing place.

Sorry, I didn't say "thanks" for all of the kind words. For a noob like me in video, the praise and the critique make for a nice combination of encouragement and "hey, that's good, but here's how it could be better." Thanks...

- So there is talk about shooting a different ending to this video, or maybe thinkening up the whole thing a bit with additional footage.... apparently the band re-recorded an ending in which the whole band kicks in at that dramatic part toward the end.

But that raises a question for me. Getting a guy and a guitar in the places we got for this was easy, but a whole band? How the heck? Can I even pull that off. Any suggestions? Secure a permit? Go a different ruote? Ideas! Thanks, from a novice.

Amazing scenery - don't get a lot of that desert in New Zealand where I'm from... but the music video left me feeling I'd just watch a recording of a bunch of guys miming a song in a desert?
I think I would've doubled the speed of the song and recorded them at that speed then slowed the footage down 50% in post to make it less 'real' if that makes any sense?

Here is the updated version... The band went back into the studio and re-recorded this song and then came out to Phoenix to be added into the original video. Thought I would share.

The desert looks great and there is good shooting there.

For me, the downside is that every shot is a performance shot. I would use that for half the video and get something (anything) narrative to intercut. It could be a guy driving in his car, walking through town...anything to mix it up and add some variety. It is clear that you have put a lot of work into this, so I would keep it simple. If you split it 50/50 narrative, performance, you may get something you like even better.

Good job.

That's EXACTLY what we would still like to do... we have an idea to use, too... I don't know if and when it will be done, though. This video had $0 budget and shot by me, a complete novice. Just love that camera and thought I would share! :)
