Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

Is there a way to check on the box (before opening) to see if it's a USA Warranty camera. I remember reading somewhere that it should have a serial # that starts with a TSXXXXXXXXXX?

Sorry there is no way to tell from just the serial number alone as to whether it is a gray market camera. The only way to really tell is to try and register the camera and if you bounce, then you have a gray camera.

Jan

I contacted someone in the Panasonic company. I think he was out of the southeast or Atlanta. I believe he provides repairs or technical support or something. He was very knowledgeable actually, and answered a bunch of questions I had. Anyway, at the time--before he answered my main question--he gave me Jan's name and phone number to contact. I never contacted her at the time as he resolved my issue.

I was trying to find out if I got a gray camera before opening the box. The box had the model number "AG-DVX100BP". The "P" freaked me out, and I thought I was had. He told me that as long as the box had "P" at the end of the model number then it was manufactured in the US and wasn't gray market. There was another letter he mentioned, but I was only paying attention to the "P".

Actually the P only indicates that you have a camera that was destined for the North Americas. You could still very well have a Gray Camera and from the name of the vendor, I think you may have.

I'm glad I did a little more research. I was planning on buying a dvx100b from bestbuycamera.com because the price just seemed to good. And it was too good to be true. I did a little more research and decided to just pay more at b&h. I might not be getting a cheaper price but it's a respected store. My dvx is coming in Friday, I can't wait. =)

Much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm highly considering purchasing a DVX100B from ProView Digital, http://www.proviewdigital.com/

Ratings here: http://www.resellerratings.com/store/ProViewDigital

They have a great price, 10/10 on reseller ratings, such high ratings - makes me wonder if anyone else has bought from this company?

I called them, they were nice on the phone, promised it was a US camera with a rebate and warranty -- Is it possible for them to post their own reviews on resellerreviews.com ?

That's all the outside information about the company that I'm going on at the moment, would love some insight from everyone here @ DVXuser.com

Thanks!

On the phone they said they buy their cameras from an 'authorized distributor' - what does this ensure? That it will be US? Have a warrenty?

If they are not an authorized dealer, then there will be no guarantee that you will receive an authorized product. That doesn't mean that they are a bad company, it just means they aren't an authorized dealer, and you cannot guarantee that you are going to receive an authorized product.

If you want to take the chance with them, I would get them to put in writing that in the event the product you receive is not an authorized U.S. Product, that you can return it, or exchange it for one that is at no cost to you. They may or may not be willing to do that, and it may or may not help. But, if you want to go with a non-authorized dealer, it couldn't hurt anyways.

If I were to receive the camera, and the model is a 100BP, and it has the rebate application in the box, does that ensure that it is a authorized unit?

I'm not 100% positive, but almost that if it has the rebate form in the box, that it is indeed an authorized product.

You might want someone else to verify that though. I haven't bought a dvx, so I don't know for sure.

ilooklikemark bought an HVX from Proview I believe and said "It came with all the warranty material and I filled all that out."

Taken from this thread: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=65438&page=3&highlight=proview

I'll send him a PM and see if everything worked out,
Thanks.

Also: Does anyone know how the DVX is packaged? I read somewhere that it comes with the viewfinder unattached to the camera, and that if the viewfinder is attached its not legitamit? Can anyone confirm this?

I'm surprised by how many grey market dealers try to lure people in with the DVX100 (and even more surprised by the amount of people willing to take the chance buying it from them).

On that note, thanks to Jan for helping forum members weed out the "bad guys."

Hello ya'll. long time lurker/thread reader who finally purchased a DVX100B package. After tons of obsessive post reading, and online calculations, etc., I followed the recommendation of some earlier posters to this thread and called EVS online.

I called, was able to immediately talk to a friendly, informed, human being (johnny) who got me a quote on the camera. It wasn't the absolute lowest price I'd seen on the internet, but it was fair. He assured me that the camera qualified for the warranty and goodies.

After more internet searching, a couple of other quote requests, I finally decided to go with my gut and called EVS back.

Long story (slightly) shorter, I spent almost 3/4 of an hour on the phone talking with Johnny, speccing out some accessories and gear I wanted with the camera (fig rig, varizoom VZFI, AT 4073A, kata case). It was pleasant to do business with someone who clearly had some clue about production, knew the product he was selling, and wasn't afraid to look up or confirm something he wasn't sure of.

I placed my order at 4 PM thursday the 28th. I was travleing the next day, and it was important for me (for tax reasons) to get my order completed this calendar year. When I told him that, he assured me he'd walk over to shipping and make sure it got out on time. They said I should receive the camera between Wed. and Fri. of this week. (the 3rd through 5th)

Friday, I called EVS from the tarmac midday, got another guy on the phone who emailed me a shipping confirmation (as i had forgotten it.) By the time I returned home, the confirmation # was in my inbox.

Today, the afternoon of Tuesday the 2nd, a day before the earliest day promised, all of my gear arrived well packed and in good condition. after a brief pucker factor (I'd somehow missed the whole clink/clunk noise issue, and thought something might be wrong with my 100B...) I couldn't be happier with my buying experience.

I would recommend EVS online highly based upon my experience. Fair prices, reliable professional service, efficient shipping = satisfied customer.

I finally purchased my DVX100B. I ordered it Thursday from B&H. When I went to track my order, the site says that it's still processing it. I know they don't do processing from Friday to Saturday between a certain time, but does anyone know how long it generally takes them to process an order before they ship?

Hi,

I bought my D-80 Nikon from B & H over the Christmas holiday and it took about 3-4 days to get it. Now I ordered it Saturday night and I had it on Tuesday or Wednesday. Once they are in business working they are very fast. You should have it very soon.

Best,

jan

I can check if you like. Send me an e-mail with the order number.

Although they are not authorized I got my dvx100 from newegg.com ,paid $3200 for it ,received it in about a week and am very happy with the whole transaction.
