Anyone buying a Canon XH A1?

If it's either toward the end of this month or early January then I'm in.

EDIT: Actually another problem I just thought of is the sales tax. Let's say we got Abel Cine to give us a discount. For those members who live in California (like me) that would be a 8.25% sales tax on top of the price. For a $3500-4000 camera that's a hefty amount of money that pretty much overshadowed whatever discount we're getting in the first place.

sorry guys, I'm out.

I just bought at abtelectronics.com, an authorized dealer for $3749 and free shipping. They only had 2 so I jumped.

Good luck.

wow...didn't really want to throw out any numbers yet...but you could have got that a1 at a minimum of $200 less than what you got it for if you stayed in and thats shipped from an authorized retailer too...

Anyways, I'm still waiting for a lot of vendors to get back to me and I have good hopes that I'll hear some better news soon.

maybe, but I need it next week. abtelectronics is authorized as well. Heard about them from the Canon web site.

Srry guys been busy because of finals but I've been talking to a few vendors and I think I might have a good price for us. Not sure though yet, its kind of hard because I think alot of vendors simply don't reply to emails or are very slow at responding to them. But yea, this GB is still going on, and hopefully I will be able to get some solid pricing by early next week.

EDIT: Okay, so I spent the last hour hitting up the emails of at LEAST 30 authorized Canon vendors and distributors across the country so its just the waiting game now :)

Why is it that Sony and Canon and JVC present camcorders in Europe with prices that are higher then wat you pay in the USA, but Panasonic is asking prices that are much higher? Why do we have promotions for the new Sony, a free batteriepack with the JVC and sharp priced Canons, but never sweets from Panasonic? No free goods, bags or sharp prices?

I really don't understand that marketing policy, I don't get it. It is not competitive.

Not sure if the group buy idea is still alive, but I have to drop out. Traded in my DVX100B at Adorama in New York and got the A1.
If anyone is interested in doing the same, Adorama was very generous on their buyback of the 100B (MUCH better than B&H), expecially if you plan on trading it in for the A1.

Are you still taking names for the group buy? Because if you are I am in. Do we have any more details?

Are they buying back DVX100B only or other cam as well?

Not sure as I only dealt with the DVX, but I would definitely give 'em a ring. Ask for Jack Gold in the used department (212.675.6789 ext. 2107).

Hey SamKam, I sent you a PM. :)

I just ordered my A1 (PAL) at my local Camera-dealer. He gave me over 10% off because my whole family are loyal customers. 3.600 €.

I feel very weird right now, because I have been considering many camcorders in the last year. Now I finally mady my decision and I hope I won´t regret it.
It´s a lot of money for me.
