External Monitor Connection?

I want to hook up an external CRT monitor to the A1 so that the director can get a better view of the shot while the DP uses the eyepiece. We have a 13" television we were thinking would work best for us (for now) and we'd like to hook it up via component (red/white/yellow) cables but I'm not sure the A1 can accomadate us there. Any thoughts?

You should be able to hook up to the TV via component, SVideo or composite and view SD live. Just make sure your signal output setup is set to 480i. (even though you are recording HDV)

Righteous. Will do. Can you tell me where I can set up the signal output in the camera's menus?

In camera mode (not VTR), push the menu button

--Go to "Signal Setup"
--Scroll down to Comp. Out, hit select
--Choose 480i

Voila!

r/w/y is composite, not component so I guess your gonna wanna set your camera to that.

I think he meant red/blue/green cables. What's cool though is all outputs are live on the A1.

Actually, I did mean composite, but if there's a way to run component to composite inputs on a tv, I'd love to hear it. ;-)
