Heres a screen cap from an actual paid gig Im using the A1 on. No cc, straight from FCP.

looks good. what's the job?

not the most flattering lighting in the world, but that can be helped a bit w/ some cc. some powder would have really helped that forehead. i'm going the A1 route in the next couple weeks. all of your footage has certainly helped me make that decision.

Agree about the makeup, we were short for hands. As far as the lighting goes, I think its pretty much spot on for the location. I have some BTS I will add tomorrow. One thing I would have liked is something else in the background, but the studio had absolutely nothing that could add to the shot

Heres a short clip - about 20mb: http://www.scarlet-films.com/A1/Sanshirointerview.mov

Yeah, the clip looks great.

Out of curiosity, how far back were you and what focal length were you at approximately?

Maybe just a little gelled spot on that backround would have done the trick. Texture and color.

I was just thinking the same thing. The DOF looks pretty good to me, especially for a interview thype of setup.

How far was the subject from the background?

How far from the subject was the camera?

This first BTS shot should answer your questions, second is Sanshiro and technical Director David Sakurai (from Denmark).

Maybe the cookie should have been a bit more on the light, could have moved it in a few feet also. You will never do a shoot without a should have.

btw, the clip looked good but it had a little "slur" in it. Did you shoot 1/24 shutter? I may be sensitive to this kind of thing but I swear I can always tell, even in a short talking head clip, if the shutter is a bit slow and therefore causing noticeable motion blur that gives a bit of a "videoish" feel.

How the final may look. Needs a little more, but something along these lines. Want to bring back the detail in his hair.

Correct! Luckily there arent too many people who pick that up :P

The other thing is - and I am not making an excuse as I think the final turned out pretty well - I had 30 minutes from walk in to be ready.

Yeah, I'm pretty bad when it comes to that stuff. 'Collateral' made me notice the 1/24 shutter and its effect on HD 24p and the "film look"

btw, I think the corrected grab is an improvement. It's surprising how far you can push the A1's image, isn't it?

Yeah there was no problem in the cc component at all. The 8 point matte I applied took awhile to render.
