Just thought I would share some news about 3dvsystems(The company that formally made Z-cam 3d depth camera) have announced the eargerly awaited deepC chipset will be for sale soon!!! Check their website
www.3dvsystems.com

This chipset is supposed to fit in ANY camera! So now the Red can become a TRUE 3d camera allowing auto depth-keying, auto rotoscoping, auto tracking, auto depth of field, etc. the potential possibilities are really anyones guess.

Funny seeing that at least 8 people in the Red Think Contest came up with almost the same idea of using a 3d-channel type device to take visual effects industry to a totally new level!

......WOW......

Their website says:
"it provides synchronized and synthesized quality color (RGB) video (at 1.3 M-Pixel)"

Don't think that's quite enough for Red! It seems really aimed at webcam level applications.

Yes but no doubt a technology partnership can be forged between red and 3dv for a world first wedge in 3d depth cinematograph funny sound 4 in 1.

Its not single smart ideas which become revoloutionary, its the combination of them.

Though probably not very realistic, that partnership (Red and 3dvsystems) would be freakin' awesome. Imagine the possibilities. No more keys and automatic 3d models (albiet rough, but still...)

Oh well, perhaps Red Two or Three.

Thats the Z-sense webcam, its based on DeepC chip. The DeepC chip itself can work in ANY camera for ANY application, Im sure they intend to support bigger formats than webcam.
