Using The 100b For 3-camera Shoots With A Switcher

I've used two 100A's for recording a live event with a switcher (Panasonic WJ-MX50) and recorded the switcher output to a hard drive recorder (as well as using the other putput for I-MAG).

I've been told by camera salesman that unless you use cameras that gen-lock, the picture will roll every time you cut. Did you have any glitches like this when you were doing your 2-camera production using the DVX-100A's?

This is true with a profesional video switcher/mixer. However pro-sumer models, like the MX-50, MX-70 AVE-55, etc, prety mutch any switcher for under ten-grand, all have built in Time Base Correctors of Frame Syncronizers that will internally sync up the cameras allowing you to switch. This can be a little limeting with some models, but it's often not an issue.

It is also possible to use externals TBCs / Frame Syncs to syncronize the cameras for use with a profesional switcher that needs synced sources.

Panasonic makes the ones I mentiond directly. There's also Focus / Videonics, Datavideo, a couple of others. Pannys are the best in my oppinion. Especially the AW-SW350 (it has a 5 channel TBC, so there's no sync issues at all).
You can find a lot cheap on e-bay too.
