Music Video: you got me running...

Was it ever confirmed that this was shot on the DVX100? Also, how did you do the slo-mo? Also, to echo everyone else...great work!

Very nice work... A step in a different direction from the Daylight Dies MV however this one is very unique... very nice DOF and how much CC did you do... looks great, makes the DVX truly shine! (I assume thats what it was)

Enjoyed watching this one very much... your 0$ projects are more fun to watch than $$$$$ projects. Awesome Video

Also, Hiro I think you should check this site and watch the Thursday video, might be up your alley.

That video kicks ass, definetly my style. Wow, I wonder what cam they shot that with. THe video looks clean, its gotta be f900 or something. I did alot of CC but I try to be gentle with the footage.

Oops, ok the band performance took about 2-3 roughly. The Narrative took about 2 days total, we had to work around the actors schedule.

The flashes, its actually pretty simple. I dunno how to explain it but its like teleporting from one point to another. The inbetweens have to be sped up. You have to keyframe the white flashes. I learned it studying other people's clip.

Yes, this was shot on the dvx100a. Im always trying to push this camera beyond the limits, since its the only one I have. If anyone is interested, here is a higher quality.

You did it again hiro! haha damn good stuff once again. Did the story have something to do with him recalling the past they shared? is she dead? if she is then the end showed that he shouldn't have to feel sad that she's gone but be happy that they shared those moments.

oh quick question, those flashes of light...how do you do that? I tried doing something like that b4 to cut on or just have for effect but I dont know how. I bet its something simple but im clueless at times....and I call myself an editor.

dude, looks like you got the story. I'm proud of myself. It's about a guy recalling a past memory he shared with the girl. The smile at the end really helps not telling the audience that she died.

The link for the higher quality version only plays the first 10 seconds. The file is only about 6mb. The quality is so much better though! For the flashes you used white flashes and the orange artbeats overlays?

-The adapter was the sexy letus35a. I put the vignette in.
-CC was vegas 6, three way color corrector. Color it in camera and then tweak it more in post.

Awsome job! I hope to achieve something like that one day. Quick question. You said you color it in camera and tweak in post. Do you mind sharing your settings? Keep it up!

hey hiro... killer vid as usual. Love it.

Wondering, where do you get that film burn effect? How many lenses did you use?

cheers man

One of the best music vidz i've seen here hiro! the editing is so slick and professional and you really have a great varied mix of shot types. The acting is strong, the girl is cute, the boy is believable.

few questions...

how did you achieve the purple sky in some shots? was the sky really that colour or did you tweak it? and how?

Your compression is really nice even for the smaller file size. I take it you made this on a mac because i can never get near that quality exporting to quicktime from windows.

I like the film burns. I downloaded some flashes & burns from artbeats but i can't work out how to apply them. i've loaded them into after effects and places them above the footage and applied all different type of blending to the effects and it looks like crap. What am i doing wrong?

well thats it for now

great job. look forward to seeing more of your vids.

cheers

Hiro,

Believe it or not the Jon Fordham Thursday video you watched was shot on the new Sony V1U.... dynamic range baby!

Also you CC'c in Vegas but you also said that you colored it in camera???

Once again nice work

Just wanted to say I've watched this four times...The song is killer...why dont they have a label???

PS...id like to know about the compression as well

Great song and Fantastic video! Were you your only crew member? Or did you have an editor/director/dp/grip/gaffer? Any of that?

Very impressive.

I absolutely love it. Definately one of the nicest (and most pleasant to watch) music videos that I've seen on here. hell, all of yours are great!

I seriously need to invest in a good adapter. I'd love to tinker around with it for awhile.

thx, I had a friend help me out, kevin peeples happened to be out there shooting his short film so he and crew helped during sundown.

The narrative was done by myself.

It's always tough working by yourself but if i can get help i always do.

thx,

The compression is done in vegas 6, i choose quicktime, codec sorenson 3, and bit rate is 125 kps.

the film burn look is actually simple. let see if i can explain it..

lets say u have a clip of someone walking. split that footage into three sections.

one- the approach
two- the walking
three- the end

So you have three shots.

one:the approach, I would keyframe a flash near the end.
two: the walking, I would speed it up by 300, this shot will be only a few frames in ur sequence.
three: the end, i would keyframe a flash in the begining of the clip.

using the artbeats film burn. put the clip over the two clips(where the one and two connect. ) same with the two & three.

go to 1:52 of the video for reference. stay with it til it looks right.
