DV Rack 2.1 update now available

I am attempting to install the patch downloaded from the web site since checking for updates from the application just returns an error. I get the message "You Must Purchase DV Rack 2.0 first" upon launching the patch and it won't go any further. I also cannot get DVCPRO HD converter to install and had to email the .sw2 file to Softwrap.

Needless to say, this might not play very well in my articles.

If it complains about not finding DV Rack 2.0 (not DV Rack 2.0 HD), then you likely have the wrong patch. There is one patch for DV Rack 2.0 (the SD version), and one for DV Rack 2.0 HD.

Nope... it's the HD patch. Have a note into tech support as well and if I don't hear back by the end of the day, I'll just phone tomorrow.

I had some serious troubles activating dv rack 2.0

I had to phone softwrap, and they were puzzled...my liscences were not in the database, and the support guy after verifying my purchase referance had to get a programmer to hack into their system to allow my liscence.

That being said if you have problems...try to PHONE SOFTWRAP...they are in England I believe, but they have a US toll free.
Once I actually talked to someone they were very helpful, and had me going in about 1/2 hour.

Where communicating through emails had me stuck for days...and communicating on the serious magic forums had the same effect.
The whole softwrap registration system is very clumsy.

In fact, it took a phone call to Softwrap to resolve both the DVRack as well as the DVCPRO HD Converter activations. Once that was done, I was able to update to 2.1. While I intensely dislike activation schemes and find it even more cumbersome when a company outsources its activation thereby requiring an additional contact, Softwrap was courteous, fast and very efficient. If I were the good folks at Serious Magic/Adobe, I would find some other means of protecting their intellectual property.

I know this is an old thread, but I just bought DV Rack 2.0 HD, the hard CD box in the mail, not the internet download, and the software activation has failed. After waiting 45 minutes on Adobe's 800 number, I find I have to call Softwrap in the UK, oh, btw, their office hours are on GMT, so I have to get up at zero-dark-thirty to try and get tech support for what is basically lame cr*p software.

and OBTW, every educated person in the world calls it "Universal Time". There's no such thing as GMT - get over it.

I'll keep you posted, but I am *not* impressed.

There was another thread about this also. Called Adobe 800 Tech Support. He gave me the 800 number for Softwrap support (only open 3am-11am CST). They ansered quickly and were very polite, could not solve the problem over the phone, they sent me a list of instructions via e-mail, which included rebooting in Safe Mode to clean up some directories (tedious), then it worked.

Then , of course, there is an upgrade available which requires activating the license (again!) which fortunately worked by itself. You also have to activate the license for the HD Decoder app.

If you keep getting the Activate License splash screen when you try to start DV Rack, you will have to call Softwrap Tech Support to get them to unfreeze the looping or whatever it is.

The Softwrap tech support number is 866-205-6310.

I had serious problems with this programs activation. It ended up being the antivirus running in the background, but the support at Softwrap and at abobe I found useless, first adobe denied owning such software, then when I get to the rude tech support who only shouted at me for not having the recommended spec on my laptop. I tried to explain it was activation not capturing which was the problem (which I presume would need most power). Well all working fine now, but WARNING do NOT copy or move the files or even the folder, for some reason it causes pixel breakup. Any one know more about this?
