I think this is the right section to ask this, and my question is what real time (rt)settings are people using when editing 720 24pn footage on final cut. I started to edit my first mini project, but it seems like i have to render after every move of a clip. Is this normal?

I just keep FCP set for Safe RT / Dynamic RT. The anwer really is dependent upon your machine-- speed, ram, etc etc. But Safe / Dynamic should be fine on just about any Mac.

I edit 720/24 pN on a MacBook that is slower than yours.

Are you certain you are using the right FCP preset?

No it is not normal. If you have to render after moving every clip, you have the wrong sequence settings. Now if the clip you move was already a rendered clip. For instance you had done some FX or color correction on it, then yes it would require re-rendering.
