So I have finally posted the entire version of the award winning film "AWAKE" on my website in anticipation for it's 1st birthday (I know cheesy) but I wanted to post it and this seems like a good reason.
This was the first short film that I used the DVX for so it's always fun to look back to the film that started it all for me, well, at least with the DVX.

here is a link to my website, and the film can be found in the "cinematography" section.

Thanks to all those who supported the film, bought DVD's and for all the feedback while making the film, it is greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone. I have to say that I really owe the members of this board something for all the help that I've recieved over the years. Most of my work on my site has been very heavily influenced by many members of this site, so the more I can do to pay you guys back, the better.

I enjoyed this a lot, if only for the images, especially the glass box & cat, hospital scene & trippy editing. The score was really well done too. Great work. How long did it take to complete?

ahh, the question I always dread. This particular film took almost a year to shoot/edit and score (I did not do the score but had a very talented collegue do it). It was a long process, we had to shoot so many different locations and all the actors worked and went to school full time, so it was definetly tricky scheduling. Also we had to have "John's" facial hair and the hair on his head different to match certain scenes, so that took a while as well.

Wow. That was very impressive. I can't believe I didn't watch it earlier. The framing/composition was spot on... excellent job on that. Also... CC looked AMAZING. What did you CC on?

The only issue I had with it was the audio near the beginning when the "wife" started speaking. It seemed way too low compared to all the previous audio. Was it just me?

Man, that opening shot was something else. Care to explain?

I absolutely loved the entire piece.

That was fantastic!

It's hard to believe that was your first film with the DVX. Your shots are wonderful. The pacing is perfect. I really loved it.

What are you working on now?

Chris

Hey thanks for all the great feedback. By the way Coffee, Steph is my wifes name, but don't worry, it's a common mistake :)

rcbrown: The opening shot was actually alot simpler than it looks, it was a simple 10ft jib shot starting at the clock and ending over head. The fan was added in digitally, just made a fan shape in photoshop, brought it into vegas and spun it around, adding a little motion blur and focus blur. The clock was the hard part, since vegas doesn't have a motion tracker, I tracked it by hand, keyframing it in vegas. Basically there was no display on the clock at all, all of that was added in later.

CMessineo: Right now I'm just working on alot of commercial work, and microsoft shoots are always available, hey they pay the bills, kind of. I'm also working with Norm "Envision" on his Drama fest film, I'm AD'ing this one. I'm also working right now with a writer from Tennesee on a feature film. I've realized over the years that I love to direct, have lots of ideas, but I really suck at writing them down. So those are my current projects, probably more information than you wanted, but hey I'm feeling open today :)

Hi Scharky

Ive been wanting to see this since you posted the trailer.

I liked it, very moody, and I like the fact it took it's time and said what it needed to with little dialogue.

The whole thing looked great.

You should post this in the 'user flms' section too....
