High falutant claims are one thing…to deliver is another thing all together. R&D costs a hell of a lot too!!

seems like a joke to me.

It's supposed to have a wireless 4.5k video feed to wireless external hard drives at 720 fps!!!!!

Haha, yeah. These guys would need to invent a whole new bunch of technologies for this stuff to happen. I don't see this coming to fruition, especially with such wild claims being made. Do wireless external hard drives even exist?

when red was anounced people (myslef included) thought it sounded like a joke. with that said this is total BS some kid eithe rhas the biggest ego in the world or just wants to be a punk.

Guys, look at the specs, claims, and the tone of the posts. It's obviously a tongue-in-cheek riff on RED.

I noticed in the title of that thread A51-B82788 Digital film project.

Any relation to the A51films that posts here?

Steve

Welcome to the party. Make sure you put your helmet on before you begin. There are lots of flying objects on the path.

Jim

Jim, I give you props for even jumping in on this one, but there is one big difference right off the bat. This person has no money. I suppose you will inspire a bunch of people to want to go even further with the technology, but let's be honest for a moment. What sets Jim apart from many others who might attempt what he is attempting? A successful business background, a deep passion for photography and the independent artist, and let's not forget, some pretty deep pockets. And even then, this project I'm sure is a huge challenge both technologically and logistically. So, although people will try to replicate what these guys are doing, they will possibily face even greater challenges in making it a reality.

But anyway, I digress....

Steve

And let's not forget one other thing. It's all about who you surround yourself with. One man alone can't make this happen. The way I see it, if this camera gets delivered in the timeframe they have projected, it will be quite a testament to the team Jim has assembled.

Hey, come on now guys. The RED isn't even released yet and we're already turning into c***.net here.
Best of luck to him - I hope he succeeds, brings out a great camera and gives it away to 200 people like he says.
That's what I was just thinking. Joke or not, do we really want to become the nay-sayers?

It's almost certainly a joke. But if it's not, sounds good to me. I'll buy one of those too.

Hey, I hope he calls me when he discovers a way to transfer that much data wireless because forget the Camera, that technology alone would put firewire and usb 2.0 to SHAME and make whoever invents it a very rich person.

It is obvious that the person is talking out of their arse. He's planning on using "Cellular connections" ? I mean what the.. at least refer to the appropriate type of cellular network that he's referring to. If you can transfer that much data over a "cellular connection" then I should get rid of T3 I have here in the office and use my cell phone to get my network on Internet.

Don't get me started. Every once in a while a nut case comes around and I for once would like to exercise my freedom of speech and phrase my opinion about this particular nut case.

As far as we know he's already giving away those 200 cameras to his imaginary friends. If you're still in doubt look at the name he chose for his camera IFMAM: A51-B82788 .. he just started and it already looks like a serial number?

Another quick note, he's planning on giving away first 200 prototypes for FREE. Yet some of his posts in the other forums call people to participate in some of his forums so he/she can raise some money for some action film that he/she is trying to shoot. There's other posts like click on this link and get your story board done by these folks and I'll get 10%, msg me and tell me when you did it so that I can track these things on my end. Now if this person is as rich as they are trying to look, why would track such small things? I've had my fare share dealing with rich people that are careful with money, but I have never seen anyone be THIS careful with money before.

These pretzels are making me thirsty!

Yes, he has been learning a lot with the RED hype and its success :) and got a fine marketing strategy in order to promote his website.

I already subscribed my user account there (and my prototype too ), so why are you here reading these lines instead to guarantee your place in the line? :Drogar-Mark-01(DBG)

i can't believe one single person has actually believed this dude... what a joke.. i dont get it. is he trying to just make people laugh? cuz its not even funny. its so funny the people that believe him and comment back about the camera...

does anyone know about that wireless-N technology that is supposed to come out in a few years or something? 811.n or something i dunno... whatever it is, im sure it will be in RED eventually. i dont know what im talking about so maybe not... but yeah that guy is such a nerd. what a stupid joke..

Guys, there is a joke here, and it's on anyone who is taking him seriously. The kid is making the most outlandish claims he can think of, just to see who will believe it.

It is unquestionably a "riff on Red", as adaml said. I mean, come on -- "I'm going to give the first 200 away, plus a free one to anyone with more than 50 posts"? There's not a serious word on that thread, and he's laughing at everyone who is willing to believe whatever he writes. Next thing you know he'll tell us that there is actually no dictionary entry for the word "gullible."

LOL,
that whole thread is most likey to boost/advertise that new forum.
It seems an easy way to draw people in to visit that forum, and the link here is of course somewhat proof that this ploy indeed seems to work. So kudos for that advertising stunt.
