BTW my parents bought this for me, and any money I haven't paid them back with by the time I am 16 (10 months) comes out of my car. So my car might be worth $1000 but I'm not complaining.

Anybody have any suggestions on how I could advertise renting my camera out? I also need some sort of contract that says if they break anything they pay for repairs.

Got mine last saturday

Amazing cam especially if you know what you're doing with manual controls :D

Got mine today at EVS. Excellent camera but does have a steep learning curve but just as much as when I learned the DVX.

Sold 2 XL2's and lenses for this one cam. I have had it for almost 5 weeks now and it's like starting video all over again : )

Update: Got the camera 2 and a half weeks ago... don't know why I didn't update this. Haven't had the time with all of my studying for midterm tests.

I want to upload some of my footage but I don't have any web space. If anybody will host it for me, I have some 720p footage that I think really shows off the A1's colors.

Some comments:
-The image stabilizer makes for some pretty good handheld footage, unless you've zoomed in all the way.
- 20x zoom is awesome.
-Only limitation I've encountered is the lack of rack-focus capabilities. I'm sorry but the 1-way rack focusing just isn't enough.
-I need a UV filter and some lense cleaner. My friends (one in particular. no more close-ups for him) are always spitting on the lense.
-HD takes up a lot of harddrive space. Good thing I have 2 new external harddrives
-The eye-cup isn't very good, like it has been said before. I never use it
-Learning curve isn't near as hard as some people have said, and this is my first pro/prosumer camcorder. Only thing I'm having trouble with is the direction of the rings. I instinctually turn all of the manual rings the wrong direction for a split second, but I find it can look slightly 'cool' in post if not overdone. The reason I don't change the direction of the rings is because I don't want to get used to that, and then have trouble using somebody elses' camera.

Image quality and colors are superb.

Somebody get back to me if they want to host my vid. edit: forgot to mention its only 45 seconds long, 84 meg.
