So I have been hanging out on this site for a while now, reading everything I can, and finally decided to get my HVX. I was so excited when it came I couldn't wait to get it out and test it. The only problem is I work as a director's assistant and we are currently in production on a mini-series for ESPN called "The Bronx is Burning" and I haven't had a second to use it. But I have been tellinig my boss all about it.
Anyway, we are shooting on Viper Film stream cameras which have to be tethered to a HD deck, with monitors, a DIT, etc. My boss wanted to steal a quick shot of George Steinbrenner(played by Oliver Platt) getting out of a car and going into a hotel. Problem was we didn't have time to do a company move. So we decided to just grab the shot with my brand new HVX!!!
So with a real deal operator using my fresh out the box HVX on a spider brace we grabed a shot in the middle of the night in the pooring rain. It worked out great and everybody was really impressed with camera. It was a hell of a way to test out the camera for the first time. So you will have to be watching next summer to see if you can pick out the 1 HVX shot out 8 Hours of Viper footage!
