Vegas, dvx100a, Afer Effects, and tons of caffeine.

A while ago we posted a question concerning video quality. It ended up we had to capture with Vegas rather than Premiere, with a great improvement in quality. Thanks to all who replied; here's the outcome. This video was shot with a dvx100a, 24p, and a load of After Effects.

Hmmmm... yeah, great AE work, but in my honest opinion, there's such thing as "too much", and this is an example. Sometime's less is more. It's just too busy, doesn't really fit the song, and "quirky" for my taste's.

I do wish I had the AE skills as seen here, though.

Just my .02. Maybe others will disagree (well, I guess they already have - from the previous posts).

well, I thought it was great!

IMO, everything worked together well.
it flowed.
I dont like that kind of music but you had me staying the whole time because I was so interested in the effects used.

It did seem like alot was happening, but I enjoyed that.

Keep up the excellent work!

Dam.....There are two types of people that will reply to this.....
1. People who admire the TALENT that it takes to be this creative and
2. People who CAN'T do this, and use it as an excuse to slam and give negative vibes to the person who created. I used to be the second person. I used to be intimidated by this work. I now view it as a means to IMPROVE my own work. Viewing this will up my antee, and as a professional, this is how you grow.

BTW, this was one of the best creative things I have seen on this site.

Congrats dude.

Dont have much to say about the band but the overall video is Fantastic !!
Well Done. And yes i wish i had the same creative skills.

Cheers,

Guys, thanks for the feedback. We really appreciate the negative and positive. We know there is still alot more to learn about the video making process so we will accept any constructive criticism for future projects.

that was awsome, i love all the effects, i dissagree with brown, i think if anything more effects should have been used. the only time i felt there was a little lull in the video was when there weren't any 3-d effects for long stretches

Thanks, Chris. Our next project will be all motion graphics so check back with us in a few months. Hopefully we won't disappoint.

I'll assume you're referring to my post, and I'm a bit offended by your misinterpretation.

First off, it was not a "slam" or an "excuse". It was my opinion, I stated it truthfully, it was meant to help, and I think "spicyfud" took it the way I meant it... unlike you.

People that really KNOW AE can do this type of video all day long. It's just a matter of if the video calls for it, and I think this one was a bit over the top. It's not that I don't appreciate the excellent AE work, it's that [for me] it doesn't fit very well with the flow/feel of the song.

Obviously there's plenty of people that really like it, so it's just a matter of preference's. What it really comes down to is if the client likes it.

To each his own, but if you can't see where other's are coming from, then you have no right to judge, or comment for that matter, on others' posts.

Very awesome work. I thought I had posted my opinion in this thread before, but I guess I didn't. Kickass! I loved every second of it and thought the FX work fit the mood and song well.

Did you edit in Vegas with After Effects as a plugin? I'm curious how the workflow is handled. I have been playing with Vegas 6 for a while and am thinking of upgrading to the Vegas 7 + DVD Architect suite for my big scenic ballooning documentary project (mostly shot already - just have other projects to finish before I begin editing). If that's the type of setup you worked with, how well does AE interface with Vegas? I'm a long-time avid Photoshop user, so I think I should eventually be able to make projects scream once I get used to working with Photoshop "in motion." Am I thinking along the right lines?

I look forward to hearing about your experiences and feedback.
