HVX Rebate page is up!

Has anyone had this problem? The default model number in the rebate form is AG-HVX200. It says to enter the model number exactly as it appears on the bottom of the viewfinder, which in the USA is AG-HVX200P. When I enter that model number (add the P) a message appears that says "The model that you entered does not qualify for this program".

Thanks,
Seth

This is a friggin' great deal... I got my camera in March... Does that entitle me to a free bag of chips atleast? Sometimes being on the bleeding edge is not so good, but I wouldn't change all those months of enjoyment for a free card, but it sure would feel nice for those who are eligible... Any other possible shakedowns? I'd love a couple of firmware update options... hmmmm

Justyn:

We also bought in March.

I feel it's appropriate that we early adopters get a free p2 store and a bottle of good wine from Barry Green.

I wanted to by my HVX200 in July, but I thought "Wait, Christmas is coming up and there are bound to be better deals around Thanksgiving." I'm glad I waited. Now I get the free 8 Gig P2 card.

I know it sucks to have just bought one of these cameras and missed the rebate date by a few months or a few days, but we are dealing with technology here and that's just the way it goes. You know as time goes on prices are going to drop and specials, rebates, and deals are going to grow. Somebody already made the comparison to buying a computer. Only way to have peace of mind is to apply it to all technology.

When I bought my Canon digital SLR, they came out with a new better model one month later and stopped making mine. And in less than 9 months, my $150 1 gig Compact Flash card was no longer made and a faster one sells for $65 bucks. I thought that sucked too, but I quickly got over that because I was very happy with the performance and they were solid products, obsolete or not.

It would be great for Panasonic to do something for the early adopters, but if they don't at least you got a solid product with great performance. And you probably benefited from having the HVX200 before everyone else.

I just entered my rebate ... it felt so good. :)

Can you be more specific? It "felt so good" because you will receive a FREE 8GB P2 card with your HVX, or because you'll get a FREE 8GB P2 card with your FREE HVX? :)

Storm- I believe the site said that the rebates are usually mailed 4-6 weeks after the process date. Of course a little more time may be in order due to recent events.

Jack. I know what you mean, man. I know what you mean. I just filled out mine for both cameras. Well. not about the free hvx, but what a great christmas present the p2 cards will be.

I'd take a bottle of MD 20/20 and a cameo in the next Borat movie as being an early adopter.... I think that if I didn't get the cam in March I would have exploded. Like remember how crazy and frenzied it was in January.... wo wa wee wa.

I think I get one...I called the rebate support line because my number didn't work anymore, as I'd already redeemed it for the book. The nice lady said she'd add the card to my rebate, which means I'll be getting one. I guess. Probably! But when I check the status of my rebate it says it doesn't exist.

No new HVX model coming untill 2008. Panasonic is busy with the development of 2 bigger cames so the HVX is not on the drawing board for a while.

Do you think they would really call dealers to verify the purchase date? I think I'm going to fill it out and go for it regardless, just use a date in their range.

Its especially kinda stupid to tell everyone that you are going to do something like that on a public forum that has a Panasonic employee, who is in charge of the rebate program, as a member.
