120 fps and audio at the same time?

To the Red team,

Just out of curiosity, will the Red One be able to acquire audio at the same time as 120 fps? Or 60 fps? Just curious, that's all..........

Is the RED being designed for audio acquisition at all?

I just assumed that the RED was going to be like a film camera in that sense -- visual data only, get a DAT and slate for the audio sync.

no, i am pretty sure it has 4 channel audio recording as well...
Yep, just checked the site.

Personally I think that might be unnecessary, and uses up storage and bandwidth that could otherwise be used for the video data.

RED team, would it be possible to include an option to disable sound acquisition, possibly gaining a little extra recording time by allocating that space to the video instead?

Or would it not make a huge difference do you think?

Sound is about 1% of the total data

Sound is about 1% of the total data

4 channels of linear 16 bit, 48 kHz sound: 375 kB/sec
4k Redcode @ 24 fps: 27.5 MB/sec

Sound is only 1.3% of the total data. At higher frame rates, sound would be an even less significant part of the total.

yep.. just ignore what you could provoke.. i'll go pass on this from yours dork..

audio acquisition in a film camera will be a must..
