BootCampDVD says no to 1394 import on Mac

Actually that's backwards.
You can firewire stream to both platforms. But if you want to do a file transfer, you should use 1394 on the Mac, and you should use USB on Windows. According to Panasonic's HVX Owner's manual, 1394 file transfer is not guaranteed to work on Windows but it is guaranteed to work on MacOS, and likewise USB file transfer is not guaranteed to work on MacOS but it is guaranteed to work on Windows.
