ERROR CODE -36 trouble importing 001xw.mxf

Perhaps try another computer/laptop/
Also hookup the HVX directly through firewire, and see if you are able to retrieve the card contents.
When the card is in the HVX, are you able to access all your clips?

Then I would make a back up of the clips onto a external firewire via the HVX (if the clips are important), then hookup the HVX through firewire and see if you can transfer the clips that way. It that is possible, then its the PCMCIA port that's faulty. Also check your P2 drivers are installed. If all else fails, reinstall the OS and wave the rubber chicken for good luck.

I've never had a single problem with the workflow I use.. From my experience it seems to be the MOST RELIABLE workflow because it keeps the FAT32 format intact by cloning the card via making a disk image... I have no experience with P2 Genie or any P2 offloading software, simply because it's not necessary... I strongly rely on this workflow and FCP 5.1.2's improved P2 importing and have had much success in my experiences!

I took my laptop to get checked out. Only to find out that my hardrive is F@#$@#$
I am hoping that this is the reason for my problem. And not anything else. I can live with that, since its a simple fix of getting a new hardrive.

Do you guys think that is the reason for my dillema?

And i basically have to back up all my files. Will P2 GENIE be able to be backed up?

Remember, that is what my original theory was, that the file was sitting on a bad sector on the drive.

I don't know why, but you seem to be a real shi* magnet -- you have your camera ripped off, buy a broadcast monitor without component inputs, and God knows what else. I hope things get better soon.

try using disk utility to store your P2 files... your workflow seems flawed.. It's best to use disk utility to make a clone of the P2 card instead of dragging the files to a hard drive (files can become corrupted that way because they are FAT32 on the card, and NTFS on your mac desktop)... Put the p2 card into your laptop.. Then open disk utility.. Click on the Mashi*sa P2 Card and then click new image... Make the settings to read only and make sure there is no compression... Then Click OK to make the disk image... Eject the P2 Card... Then Mount the disk image clone from whereever you saved it and try and ingest from there...

Then if this is the proper way to do it. Then is P2 GENIE really needed?

Yes, this is the problem. A hard drive going bad can act up. When transfering data, or any other operation, temporary invisible files are written and erased constantly that are not the actual data being manipulated. If any of these temp files hit a bad sector, you're dead. New drive will fix that right up.

P2 Genie only works with P2 cards, it won't back up stuff already on a hard drive, and won't work (at least for me) with the FS-100.
