Any Successful Installs of DV Rack 2.0 HD on MacBook (not pro)

From a clean install of Windows XP in a partition on a MacBook not pro, I could even get Windows NET upgrade installed, much less DV Rack 2.0 HD.

And it killed the airport card connection completely.

Any tips would be appreciated.

I emailed Serious Magic about this and received the following response:

"Tests to have the program run on a standard macbook have failed. We know of
no one that has been able to get the program to work with this
configuration. The Macbook pro however does seem to work. "

Not what I was hoping to hear, but at least they provided the information I asked for.

For the millionth time, DV rack works fine on a macbook!!! You might have to put a 7200 drive in it and you surly need a (non pirate) upgradeable version of windows XP and dont forget to upgrade, this means sometimes upgrading the mac side than the widows, than the mac again...several times. It seems obvious but it took me forever to figure this out.

HD Works Great on my Pro, but there a good reasos the Pro costs more. I have a friend that tried it on Macbook (granted it was a DC 1.8mhz) with no success. He also had no luck on a middle of the road PC. DVRack HD requires some horsepower and a good video card.

Well, unless this is not a mistype, it appears that the video card on the MacBook won't support DV RACK 2.0 HD.

HVX2006,

As I mentioned above, the manufacturer said they knew of no instances of DV Rack 2.0 HD running successfully on a MacBook, as opposed to MacBook Pro. It would be great if you could contact them with your information so that they could build on your success and/or publicize what configurations might work. What is the configuration of your system? Have you been able to use the program to capture direct to disk on your MacBook?

Thanks,
Kevin

I just finished a short film, captured over 400GB of footage 1080/25 on a yes macbook, non pro, i also was a beta tester and although there where some issues on the first released version the subsequent update fixed this. There are no special configurations, but i tried running it with a home edition windows and it did not work, got a legal windows xp and it still did not work, than i updated the system on both partitions of boot-camp, before and after installing dvrack and it works fine. The key is updating the windows and osx this means maybe as often as six times before and after installing.

I have no idea what you are referring to. Updating what?

And "what" six times.

This was a fresh install of OS 10.4.8 and a Windows XP SP2 install disc with the latest version of Bootcamp.

I couldn't even get the MS Net. update installed, and I immediately loss my wireless card.

Might want to detail what you are doing. What are you updating and why six times?

i dont know if it is six times or what, but sometimes you when you update osx, it list all the updates available, yet after installing those you check again and there are some more.... do this on both mac and windows until there are no more updates. Also obviously you need to instal the windows drivers that boot-camp generates when you install it. There are loads of tutorials that explain exactly how to do this, just google it. As far as DV rack is concerned, what happens when you install it? You know you have to have the camera on and connected before launching it so it can identify the format the cam is sending it. i know it is a little bit of a pain as you are traveling through no mans land, but it can be done, many have bin there before you.
