problems importing P2 to FCP 5.1.2

I haven't seen anything about this one yet. I'm sure it's a simple solution I'm not familiar with yet. Here it is....
I dumped all the clips to a drive. Put them in to some folders. Opened FCP and the import P2 window. I brought in tons of clips. Like over 100. For some reason the last 5 clips I've tried to bring in won't show up in the browser. I click "Add To Queue" and it does it's thing like normal, but no clip shows up in the browser. So I went to my capture scratch folder and there is part of a Quicktime file in there....but it's like it's corrupt because the whole file is not there. And the label is strange...at the end it has #FFFFFFFF. So I checked the files in the camera which are still on a card- they play fine. The files play fine in the import window as well.

I went into preferences and did "clear logging autofill cache" and that allowed me to bring in another clip. But then it didn't work again. Kinda confused and just starting to be frustrated. I have a feeling I'm not importing properly...but it was working fine before.

Thanks for reading and any help would be great.

In the upper left hand corder, you're going to need to point FCP to the correct p2 folder, not just set the scratch disk... It's an icon of a folder with a little plus sign on it... Let me know if this was your problem..

no that didn't do it. I already have the clips pulled into the Import window using the"add custom path" selection from the import window. This is how I got the other clips into fcp without any problems. Like I said the clip plays in the window and I set my in and out, then click "Add Clip To Queue" and it starts that process but the clip never shows up in the FCP browser. So I go back to my scratch folder and for some reason there has been another folder created in the scratch folder and the clip is partially there. But it has a strange label that ends in #FFFFF and the clip does not play there like my other QT files.

really strange......anyone?

well I figured out it's something with the last 5 clips I'm trying to ingest/import. So I'm going back and creating new folders and dumping the footage again to see if that works. So just to clarify the issue is not with FCP it's the P2 file....and of course user error :)

I tried that and it didn't work. I also tried to repair clip on the camera. I got a warning error saying clip can not be repaired. So now what? That's it? Those clips are just gone or corrupt for some reason? That's reassuring. Luckily they aren't too important. So no one has encountered this yet? I can't write a new text file or something?

Thanks for reading.

Try P2 Log, it has a reputation for being able to digest material that FCP chokes on.

P2 Log worked. I tried the demo version and there's my Quicktime....so now of course I'm really happy about having to spend another $200 for the P2Log. I thought FCP's update covered that?

Thanks for your help THoff and AbstractThery!

The important thing is that you were able to salvage the material you wanted. If you find value in P2 Log, great, I suggest you buy it, what it just did should easily be worth $200.

If you do not decide to buy it, then at least you now know of a potential solution to your problem if it should happen again.
