Where's my book, or what's wrong with big business and other mindless rants

Lesson of the Day: "The Big Guy" doesn't care about you -- the consumer. When you're a leader in the broadcast industry and make God-knows-how-much-money annually, whose to care if you got your book or not? It's all petty in the realm of things.

p.s. is English your 2nd or 3rd language? Either way, welcome to America!

Hi,

All you ned to do is to send me a private message with your real name, your address that you put on to the form, the name of your dealer and your serial number. I will check it out and get back to you.
Best,

Jan

...anybody ever see that cell phone commercial with the little cheerleader girl chewin gum and talkin' up all her minutes in front of those scientist looking dudes?

Wow, I got lost half way through and kept rereading lines I had already read.

What ever it was he was talking about it looks like Jan on a Saturday even is once again on the ball and taking care of things.

How can you say big business doesn't care when we have people like Jan who busts her a s s to provide great customer service?

....gotta correct you there, n8ture.... the poster said "The Big Guy" doesn't care aboout us.... clearly "The Big Gal" DOES! ROCK ON JAN!!

Wow -- it's a FREEBIE! How on earth can you compain about customer support for a FREE book?

When most of us bought our HVXs there was no offer... I can't believe they made it retroactive. Usually the "reward" for being an early adopter is missing out on promos that come up later down the road.

I bought my DVX in late 2003 and missed out on the rebates, the DVX book, and Magic Bullet, all of which were offered after I got my camera. No big deal... I don't expect free stuff just for buying an awesome piece of gear. I'm just thankful that this time around the freebie is valid even for us early buyers!

Submit too many complaints and Panasonic may think twice about being so generous next time around!

So Panasonic is giving you a free book that others have to pay $90 for and they call you back numerous times to help you solve your issues. What is big business coming to?

How about Lily Tomlin in the old "Laugh In" telephone operator skit, "We don't care, we don't have to. We're the phone company." "Snort".

Ha ha, what a hoot! (That may have been the first time milk came shooting out my nose).

I never applied for my free book . . . got one for attending the NYC Boot Camp.

I recently broke the rear Tally lamp/Remote control sensor (Part 24 in the HVX-200 manual) and called Panasonic to try and get it replaced. Now here is an ingenious idea, how about allowing the person who talks to the customer to actually be able to look at some sort of diagram that illustrates what the customer is talking about. Despite my pleading (and Jan if you looked at my account/call history of this repair you would see what I am talking about) with the operator to talk to someone who can actually look at what I am talking about, they told me that they would research it and call me back, which they did promptly (thank you).

Hi, I finally read back down to the bottom of your post as I have a difficult time with long paragraphs with more than one thought in them. I actually thought the entire post was about just getting the book. Then because I had not gotten a messasge from you, I thought, let me read it again, maybe I missed something.

So of course there was this additional problem that you have identified. My suggestion is, that you call one of the two service centers, there is one for the east and one for the west, and find one of the guys there to look and see if it is indeed a user servicable part. Since I do not know your real name I cannot look up your call. To find the phone number to call you, go to the www.panasonic.com, look for SUPPORT at the top of the page, click there. On the next page, there is a link for Finding a Servicer, it is off to the right hand edge and then the next page allows you to put in the Model number and your zip code. That will get you either NJ or CA, depending on where you are. You should be able to walk this through from there.

Still waiting for your real name, your address, your dealer and your serial number.

Best,

Jan

First of all I want to say I am a long time reader and today is my first posting day

Halfway through this exhausting post, I remembered the words that started it, and I couldn't help but think "why didn't you just ask Jan in a PM to begin with?"

A long time reader, even one that registered in May of this year, should/would have seen the 2 previous threads in which Jan was doing her best to take care of the folks around with a book-related issue, just as she always does. (Okay, those current issues turned out to be a big can of worms that really had NOTHING to do with the free book...)

Just send Jan PM. That's all you had to do. Heck, she even responded directly to you in your OWN thread, and it seems you STILL haven't contacted her. She's willing to help you, as she usually is for most people even outside of this forum. So PM her already.

And please, for the future eye safety of the DVXuser readers, and protecting you from the flames of the Grammar Police, break your thoughts up into digestible chunks. It will help you get answers more quickly and not annoy anyone in the process.

On the contrary, I've found that Panasonic actually does care about its individual customers (arguably) moreso than most "Big Guy" companies out there. Panasonic listens to, responds to and designs products partially from direct feedback of its customers. How cool is THAT! This is one of the big reasons I remain a loyal Panny user and customer. Panasonic gives me what I ask for at a price I can afford. :)
