WIP Timelapse Footage

that was definately hot.

how'd you get the flower-growing effect? i've never understood that.

also, i noticed you have this streamed through flash and retained a lot of the high quality. does it cost extra money on your hosting to have a feature that strems flash?? how big was that file? because it streamed very fast on my end.

nice city timelapse too...miami? cali?

Yeah - that looked really good. And I expect will raise quite a few questions!

Perhaps I can anticipate a few here-

Settings?
How did you achieve the pan and tilts?
The stream is great - what did you use to create the flash file?

Many thanks for sharing. Great stuff.

Macromedia Flash 8. You just import the movie file into flash and it will encode it and from there you make your additional settings - progressive downloading, streaming, quality & audio settings, etc.

Hey Dethel, nice time-lapse. Very nice.

I really liked the zoom and the tilt that you had in there! Wasn't expecting that in time-lapse! Very cool. (I imagine you did that in post?)

Very cool footage. Catching that bridge rising was nice!

Very nice!

ya, i meant the timelapse on the flower growing. sorry. typing too fast and running my mouth in the office this morning...

Nice timelapse. Looks like it was done with a digital still camera, not an HVX. I only say that because the light trails are too long to be the 2fps hack on the HVX.

I guess I just don't understand what you don't understand... You seem to understand time-lapse recording. Just set-up your camera on a flower early in the morning before it has opened for the day and record.

Or am I missing something? Just curious.

Ted

Well typically it would be to set up your camera to take so many frames or seconds of video every so many seconds or minutes.
i.e. 1 frame every 5 minutes.
Then you play that back on a 24 frame timeline and you have a nice smooth timelapse relative to the amount of frames you shot.

Jason

what were your interval settings for the flower?
and where were the city scenes shot?

there's some great stuff here.

DUDE your in my backyard !

thats the ocean walk in daytona beach

i took my dvx at the exact spot when i first got it

Not true i am a big fan of the 2fps hack and as long as the shutter is open to 350d then the trails really are that good

For the flower shot it took 4 sec between shots since thats how long it takes to send the file from the cam to the laptop ( I think because I have USB 1.0 on this LT ) then as soon as done it would shoot again.

The file is around 17 MB and I am not paying anything extra for the streaming, although I'm sure I'll get hefty bill next billing cycle :~)

I mostly shoot manual unless I am doing a day to night scene where I let the
cam adjust the shutter as it gets dark.

Since you have such a high res image you can play around in AE and do zooms and all that cool stuff...

I exported the file from Premiere Pro. 700 kbps On2 VP6
then used flash to put the flv file inside the mediaplayback component.

I've done it that way too, but decided to skip a step and just export right from Premiere.

Thanks,

Yeah, its nice to add those in there makes it look interesting.... Although I do in post, some companies use actual motorized camera mounts that controls zoom, tilt and pan... they do --> www.timelapsedigital.com some of the footage I am producing will be for them to see if they would like to sell them. have to put a demoreel for them first.

-I got lucky with the bridge shot.. I heard the horn and I started looking for my 28-300 lens to get much closer and thought I was going to miss it, but there were so many people crossing the bridge for biketoberfest that they had to wait a while 'till more people got off the section that goes up..that gave me time to set up the shot.
